Providing Nutritional Meals to Lehigh Valley Seniors
Meals on Wheels of Northampton County has been working to deliver nutritional meals to seniors in the Lehigh Valley. They have recently taken their program to the next level with the 'Better Fresh Program'. The 'Better Fresh Program' is a model that replaces canned fruits and vegetables with produce from local farms during the growing season to increase nutritional quality and stir local economic growth. United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley provided the initial investment to launch the full program as part of our goal to provide more nutritious food to people in the Lehigh Valley.

UW Alliance on Aging is Fighting Diabetes in the Lehigh Valley
United Way Alliance on Aging is working to lower the rate of diabetes in the Lehigh Valley.  We are currently funding two agencies for Diabetes Prevention: the Allentown YMCA's "Golden Opportunities" program and The Hispanic Center of Lehigh Valley's "Diabetes Prevention"program.

Join the Fight Against Diabetes
We are planning a meeting with both the health bureaus and hospitals for a robust conversation about how we can work together to improve the lives of our seniors.  If you know of any agencies or programs in the Lehigh Valley who are doing diabetes prevention and would like to be included in this meeting, please email Priscilla Rosado

Welcome Interns!
United Way is pleased to have three interns  working on our Healthy Aging Strategy. Max Greenberg and Janelle Fleet are both graduating from Muhlenberg this May. Max is working on our
'Fall Prevention Program' while Janelle is working with our 'Diabetes Prevention Program'. Our third intern Gabrielle Kennedy from Cedar Crest College, is working on both the 'Diabetes Prevention Program' as well as the 'Better Fresh Program' with Meals on Wheels. We are excited to have them all on board!
