United Way Alliance on Aging Common Good Award

The United Way Alliance on Aging is proud to have been honored as a leader in advancing the common good at the United Way Worldwide conference in Grapevine, Texas!  With a record number of applicants, the 2015 Common Good Awards were announced on April 30th with 2,000 attendees from United Ways across the globe. The United Way Alliance on Aging won the honorable mention. Corissa Rol?n, the Director of Healthy Aging for United Way of the Greater Lehigh Valley said, "This award is the result of the efforts of hundreds of people in the Valley who have worked together to create real improvements in the lives of seniors.  We are honored to have been recognized and this award goes to each and every one of our Alliance members who help and contribute in their own way".

Fall Prevention
One of the biggest problems facing the elderly is falling, which can have a number of consequences ranging from anxiety to broken bones. Fortunately UWAA has been working with health care specialists including physicians, first responders, hospitals and non-profit programs operating fall prevention programs to help reduce this problem. If you are interested in joining our fall prevention meetings please email Priscilla Rosado
Senior Fest
We had another successful event at Senior Fest with over 2,000 participants! We handed out heart healthy pistachios with UWAA's logo to represent our key goal of seniors aging healthy. Pistachios stimulate a healthy heart, help with weight management, protection against diabetes and improved digestion.
No Wrong Door Stakeholder Meeting
No Wrong Door (NWD) is a shared statewide approach for Long Term Service and Support (LTSS) for all populations regardless of age, income, ability or program eligibility including all payers; federal, state, local and private. On Thursday, May 14 members from the United Way Alliance on Aging Steering Committee attended a No Wrong Door Stakeholder meeting. The PA LINK!, in collaboration with the Departments of Aging, Human Services and Military and Veteran's Affairs, are in the process of developing a three-year plan to implement a NWD system in the Commonwealth.
