LIVE UNITED Story - Healthy Aging
Virginia Katsaromitsos currently receives transportation assistance from ShareCare Faith in Action, one of United Way's funded programs. Virginia spreads the good news of what ShareCare has done for her.

"ShareCare uplifts me and keeps me living independently. The friendly smiling volunteers help me with so many of my basic necessities of life. Before ShareCare I had no one, what ShareCare gives to me now is hard to put into words because they are my life, they are my family!"
Help Meals on Wheels fill Blizzard Bags
Every year Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County provides their clients with blizzard bags filled with specific shelf-stable food items to use when they can't deliver meals. Last year they had to cancel meal delivery 13 times because of inclement weather. This year they want to collect enough food to fill 1200 bags.

The items needed are very specific:
  • tuna in water
  • no-sugar juice boxes
  • no-sugar applesauce and fruit cups
  • canned vegetables (small cans)
  • beef stew or chicken in dumplings
  • small mayonnaise packets
  • small packs of saltines.
The drop-off date for the items is October 1, 2015. If you are able to help Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County with their Blizzard Bags contact Michele Grasso at 610.841.7023.
Senior Citizens Day
Did you celebrate National Senior Citizens day was on August 21? Every day is important to show seniors in your life that you care by encouraging, recognizing and showing them appreciation on a daily basis. In support of seniors in the community you are also supporting the reauthorization of the Older Americans Act, which provides essential services to seniors age 60 and older. As stated by President Ronald Reagan, "For all they have achieved throughout life and for all they continue to accomplish, we owe older citizens our thanks and a heartfelt salute. We can best demonstrate our gratitude and esteem by making sure they our communities are good places in which to mature and grow older."
