Give Where You Live: Join the Giving Tuesday Collaboration
You've heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but have you heard of
#GivingTuesday? The concept began four years ago and is gaining momentum. This year, #GivingTuesday is on December 1st (it's always the first Tuesday after Thanksgiving). People across the country will show their gratitude by giving back and donating to nonprofit organizations of their choice.
Following last year's #GivingTuesday, several peer groups discussed the need for education around  the day . Therefore, this year the Community Foundation wants to help you encourage Linn County residents to give locally. Please help us promote "#GivingTuesday: Give Where You Live" by joining this collaborative effort by Linn County nonprofits
Follow all the ways to get involved at https://www.gcrcf.org/event/givingtuesday/. The site includes the following downloads:
  • A general news release that will be sent this week.  Please alter for your organization and include it in your newsletters or other materials.
  • The social media image above to be shared and used with the #GiveLinnCounty and #GivingTuesday hashtags.

Library Resources
Thank you to the downtown Cedar Rapids Public Library for hosting our peer groups during the month of October. Peer groups participants learned about valuable resources to help them with their work.
As part of the ongoing partnership with the Library, we now have a specific section for the Nonprofit collection. The section is located on the second floor of the downtown Library. With funding assistance for the Community Foundation, the Library has recently added to the collection and those books will be arriving in the coming weeks.
