Troop 5459 Hosts Marine Corp           

On December 19, 2014, Girl Scout Troop 5459 in Fredericksburg, Virginia hosted the Quantico Marine Corps color guard. The Marines demonstrated the different types of flag ceremonies and taught the girls proper flag handling. Afterwards, the Marines were treated to cookies and hot chocolate.

 

Girl Scout Troop 5459 is in the Chancellor Service Unit. They meet at Salem Fields Community Church.  
Troop 5436 Keeps Henrico County Warm            

Girl Scout Troop 5436 made winter's bite a little less harsh for some Henrico students without a place to live. The troop, led by Diane Christiani in Glen Allen, collected (and made) 85 sets of hats, gloves and scarves and presented them to Henrico Schools' Deb Reed. There are 580 homeless students who attend Henrico County Public Schools. The clothing went to some of the 112 homeless students who attend school in the Brookland district.

Early Bird 2016 is Coming!

May 1 - June 15    

The dates have changed for this year's Early Bird! Each girl who renews her membership between May 1 and June 15 will receive an Early Bird patch (and yes, it glows!). 

For each girl who Early Birds, her Service Unit will receive an additional 25 cents per girl to help with programming at the Service Unit level. More incentives to come, so stay tuned!

The Girl Scout package includes:

  • General Admission ticket, $9
  • Special Flying Squirrels Girl Scout patch (while supplies last)
  • Pregame parade around the warning track
  • Post-game Kids Run the Bases presented by McDonald's and Richmond Family Magazine
  • Sleepover on the field after the game
Girl Scouts that are sleeping out must register through COMAR, search keyword 'squirrels'. To order tickets, click here.

Volunteer Appreciation Week

Be on the lookout for fun events, savings, and special tokens of appreciation to celebrate the dedication and commitment of our Volunteers! We love our volunteers and can't wait to spend a week letting the whole community know! See below for shop incentives! 

 

We invite and encourage every girl to take a moment and nominate your leader for the really awesome and wonderful things they do for you. Volunteer Appreciation Week Giveaways      

  • Any volunteers who visit the shop April 1-25 can enter to win a gift basket that includes a $25 gift card to Short Pump Towne Center! Winner will be announced April 27.
  • All volunteers who spend $25 or more in-store only April 13-25 will receive a free tote bag while supplies last (a $3.50 value) that can be used for 10% off one item during all future visits.
  • Parents and girls who shop in-store from April 1-25 who mention "Leader Appreciation" at the register will receive 20% off one regularly priced item for your leader. This is a great way to say thanks for all their hard work and dedication.
