Girl Power Wrap-Up & After School Program!

It is dark in the basement. The only light comes from candles adorning vanilla and chocolate cupcakes. Girl Power Campers are asked to make a wish for all girls. Some wish for "things not to be so expensive, so everyone can afford what they need." Others wish for "girls worldwide to feel loved and free." The wishes vary from girl to girl, but the intent is consistent -- a sense of belonging for all girls.
Our summertime Girl Power Camp series has come to an end, and you can read about the girls' experiences on our blog. But this isn't the last chance for 10-12 year old girls to get involved! Modeled after the camps' success, our very first Girl Power After School Program will run every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-5:30pm starting on October 6th! Contact Sarah to learn more, or check out the  poster.
Save-the-Date!
Our volunteer appreciation party will be on October 29th! Mark your calendars for an evening of fun, friends and finger foods.
Women's Centre Training Series!
Starting with the peer model,  our six-part training series covers the Women's Centre, our history, and why we do what we do. The next series runs on Mondays from 1-3pm, starting September 14th.
Tax Clinics
Every Tuesday from 12:30-2pm and Wednesday from 5:30-8pm, the Women's Centre hosts free, drop-in tax clinics for low-income women. Call us at 403-264-1155 to learn more.

Social Issues Workshop Series

New this fall, the Social Issues Committee is organizing a Social Issues Workshop series. The workshops will be taking place the second Wednesday of each month and are open to all women.

This workshop will feature a short documentary about women's aging, followed by a discussion on stereotypes and the power of language. Participants will be challenged to come up with ideas to include women of all ages in our communities.
Christmas Toy Drives

There might not be Christmas carols playing in the mall just yet, but the Women's Centre already is gearing up for the holiday season! Last year, over 3,000 women and children accessed the Toy Room program. We know this number will continue to grow, and we need your help! If you and your friends or coworkers are interested in hosting a toy drive or adopting a day in the toy room, please contact Sarelle
