Hi everyone,
What great weather we are having here in the Chicago area. Leaves are beginning to turn and the colors of fall are appearing. Nancy and I just returned from the Mission Congress in Houston. We heard some wonderful talks and participated in some great breakout sessions. We will review and incorporate the information into our formation process. Here's some mission updates listed below.

Call to mission
 
One of the main themes Nancy and I heard at the Mission Congress was Pope Francis' call to mission. How we are called to share our faith with all we meet. A key part to sharing is being able to listen. Listen to the needs of people. What do they need that we can give. We must be able to understand their way of life so we can truly know what they need.

We also need to ask ourselves what we are called to. Here's a couple thoughts to think about.

1. How is God calling you to be part of mission?

Would you go to a mission site?
Promote mission to others?
Work as a mission volunteer?
Provide financial support?

2. How willing and open are you to the mission experience?

Can you let down your defenses and be open to new experiences?
Are you willing to see the world through the eyes of others?
Can you change?

Take time to sit with these thoughts. What comes from your meditation?

Ready for Philippines?

The Philippines Mission to Borongan is moving into the formation phase. The Acceptance Letters have been mailed to everyone. Our first formation meeting is November 17th at the Blanchette Catholic Center in Crest Hill. We'll start at 7:00pm.

Just a reminder to get in your health forms if you haven't already.

The medical team has been working hard packing supplies for the Philippines mission. We have 20 boxes just about ready to go out. Thanks Mike, Jo, Mary, Helen, Ed, and Susie for getting this done.

The first formation meeting for the team is November 17th.

We leave on January 29th and return to O'Hare on February 13th, 2016. Come join us!

Bolivia Formation 

Just a quick reminder to everyone that the information meeting for the Sucre, Bolivia mission (leaving on April 2nd and returning April 16th) is this Thursday night at 7pm. If you are interested in finding out more about the Sucre, Bolivia mission come on down to the Blanchette Catholic Center and bring a friend.
 
Faith Promise Dinner

Our Faith Promise Dinner is fast approaching. Please put November 6th on your Calendar. This is your opportunity to help missions continue to reach out and touch people in need at our mission partners sites.

We're going to change it up a bit with dinner this year. Instead of the traditional chicken dinner, everything taste like chicken. We going with a buffet menu. Rumor has it that there could be some surprises.

Please help pass the word to everyone you know. Invitations are mailed and I encourage you to return your reply card as soon as you can. If you can't find the reply card please call and let us know if you are coming, 1 815 221-6258. If you need additional invitations we have some extra ones. The sooner we have names, the sooner we can start placing everyone at tables. Wait too long and you'll never know who you'll end up sitting with.

It's a night of storytelling. Stories of how mission has touch lives. Hear about the building project at Tomas home. Curious about what happens at the hospitals while we're on mission, stop by the Faith Promise Dinner. Which University team has the biggest team? You'll know if you come to the Faith Promise Dinner.

Mission in the Diocese 

Over the last several years there has been several people asking about opportunities to do mission in the Joliet Diocese. We have a  possibility we are looking at. If you would like to know more reply to [email protected] and we'll contact you with more information.
 
 
Shirts and Calendar 

We are going to place an order for mission polo shirts. To place an order, email [email protected] with your size (S,M,L,XL). The shirts do seem to run large so take that into consideration when placing your order. Our next order date is October 26th.
