*Students cannot be signed out or released after 2:45pm daily. In order to sign a student out early, you must do so prior to 2:45pm.

5.3 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's, and unless a cure is found, more than 16 million Americans will have the disease by 2050. Alzheimer's disease is the 6th leading cause of death in America.
Let's continue to try and go purple all this month Energy! By simply wearing purple, you are recognizing Alzheimer's Awareness Month, and sometimes building awareness is all it takes to help someone.

Student Pick Up and Drop Off Locations
|
In the morning, student drop off will be along Sampson Street where students will be able to enter through the gate and main entrance.
Please drop your child off on the school side of the street so they do not have to cross through traffic.
In the afternoon, car pick up is along Jefferson Street only. Students must exit out the end of the sophomore hallway and meet their vehicle on Jefferson Steet. Students will not be allowed to cross Sampson Street to meet vehicles.

Visitor and Parent Parking

Parking for parents and visitors to our campus is parallel parking on Sampson Street. The only entrance for visitors and parents is our main entrance on Sampson Street. In order to meet safety and security needs all other doors will be locked. |
Energy's official ADA time this year is
10:10 AM.
Please schedule your child's appointments so that he or she is back to school by 10:10 AM or leaves after 10:10 AM. We receive our funding based on attendance at this time. Funding allows us to provide more for your child!

The Texas Workforce Commission has awarded Energy's Rookie FIRST Robotics Team a $6000 grant to help make their first season an awesome reality. Thank you so much to FIRST in Texas and the Texas Workforce Commission. With your support we know our students will succeed!

This week we recognize the Class of 2019 for their first place win at the STEM Shell Showdown! Twenty four ninth grade students represented Energy last Friday at the IPAA hosted event at the University of Houston.
Energy finished first out of five HISD teams. With the support of students from Rice University, University of Houston, University of Saint Thomas, and the University of Texas, students participated in a day of engineering challenges. The first place win earned Energy $3,500 of prize money to support STEM programs accompanied by a first place trophy and medals for our participants! Congrats to the Class of 2019 on their first of many awards to come!

An important Energy community meeting will be held Tuesday, November 17th at 6pm to discuss the plans and timeline for the new building. Parents, students, and community members are encouraged to attend to hear about the future of Energy!
IPAA representatives will be on campus Tuesday and Thursday this week to introduce the Application and Resume Writing Training of the externship program to all eleventh grade students. We are looking forward to to seeing awesome resumes from our students!
This Thursday evening join Energy Boosters PTO at 5:30 for their monthly meeting in the cafeteria. Come learn about fundraising opportunities and upcoming events. The meeting will be followed by our Parent Tech Night sessions. Keep reading for more information!

Energy High School National Honor Society The Energy High School Chapter of the National Honor Society has been established. Our sponsor, Dr. Hall and Co-Sponsor, Ms. De La Rosa have been preparing all the documents and getting the approvals to get our charter finished and our chapter paperwork ready. Our Faculty Council has been seated and we are gearing up to begin our selection process for our founding members. For our Inaugural Induction Ceremony this winter, students will need to meet the following criteria to be invited to submit additional information for selection: 1) be in the Junior class 2) average a 3.5 GPA or higher (no rounding 3.49999 and below do not qualify) 3) have a least 10 hours of community service 4) show leadership, scholarship, good character, and service. NHS Bylaws, invitations for selection consideration, and further information will be shared through personal invitation and morning announcements. Look for the EIHS NHS bylaws to be posted on the Energy website in the next few weeks. |
