Swing Sequence
The golf swing sequence has traditionally started with the hands moving backward and culminates with the hands at impact, with the order reversing from the backswing to the downswing.  While no two golfers have an identical timing, low-handicap golfers generally swing this way:

Backswing:
  1. The first motion backward is with the hands.
  2. The arms naturally follow.
  3. The shoulders are the last part of the upper body to turn.
  4. The body turn then begins to work it's way down to the ground, with the hips being next.
  5. The knees, and in some cases feet, are the last body parts to move.

Downswing:

  1. It is essential to reverse this order and begin the downswing with the lower body. Knees/feet will move first.
  2. Hips will follow and should continue to rotate toward the target until the swing is complete
  3. Shoulders are next to go, after the hips have cleared.
  4. Arms follow shoulders but stay in front of the hands until the very end.  This creates "lag" which equals power.
  5. The hands end the striking portion of the swing.
