Tennis Alliance Wins 2015 USTA MAS Inclusion Award

On Saturday, November 21st, at the MidAtlantic Section (MAS) Annual Meeting and Conference, the Tennis Alliance was honored as the recipient of the MAS Inclusion Award for organizations. Our young organization was recognized for the commitment we have made to programming that grows the game in diverse communities. The USTA produced a three minute video that touched upon the 2015 Tennis Alliance programming that included Family Days at Truxtun Park, support for Special Olympics, Yellow Ribbon, festival promotions, Meade Village Boys and Girls Club, a growing partnership with the Hispanic Latino community through the Center of Help, a new partnership with Seeds 4 Success and their Girls' Summer Book Club, 10 and Under Tournaments, and our 24 HOURS of TENNIS event. The video can be viewed here:

Second 24 HOURS of TENNIS Event a HUGE SUCCESS! Thank YOU!!
Highlights:

Over 300 players from ages 3 to 90 took to the courts at every hour of the day and night to play for a new Tennis Center in AACo.  The Kick-off Party with former tennis greats Dick Stockton and Fred McNair was enjoyed by all. Dick and Fred and their partners from the USNA tennis team showed us what first class doubles really looks like. The Family Festival for kids 10 and under was tons of fun for the 30+ kids who participated.  We raised over $50K so far and thanks to our corporate sponsors, we netted around $47K, all of which will be deposited in our Facility Development Fund.

If you still want to contribute to the event, it's not too late to make your tax-deductible donation.
Go to http://www.firstgiving.com/401883/24-hours-of-tennis and click on "donate."  You can also send checks to Tennis Alliance AAC, 839 Bestgate Road, Suite 400, Annapolis, MD 21401 through Dec. 31.

Special thanks to all the players, volunteers, sponsors, our graphic designers Stasia Archibald and Sally LaBella, fabulous DJs Sheri LaFleur and Carol Fasick, physical therapists, our tireless photographer, Byron Aber, and friends from neighboring counties. We made many new friends who became supporters of our efforts to build and manage a state-of-the-art tennis center at Millersville Park.

We have great photos to share with you. They are posted by hour and theme on our Facebook page. Take a look. They're so fabulous! https://www.facebook.com/TennisAllianceAAC

Facility Progress

The Tennis Alliance and Anne Arundel County Department of Recreation and Parks are working together to continue the feasibility and planning study work funded by this year's (FY 2016) Anne Arundel County Capital Budget. The Tennis Center Financial Feasibility (Part A) final draft is very near cletion. The County is negotiating a contract for Part B, which consists of the Site Analysis and Master Plan for Millersville Park. Part B is scheduled to proceed in January of 2016, pending execution of contract documents. The site, Millersville Park, is a new park to be developed off Millersville Road, just west of I-97. The proposed Tennis Center at Millersville Park includes 8 indoor and 12 outdoor courts with a supporting clubhouse type structure.

2016 will be a very active year as the project concept moves closer to reality in the planning, designing, and capital funding phase. The 24 HOURS of TENNIS events have provided funds to pay for the Tennis Alliance costs in the preliminary tennis center design work in coordination with the County site development studies.
