The Nature of Balance: A Metaphor for Life
featuring new works by CJ Hurley

Have a glass of wine and talk with CJ about the creative endeavors
and challenges that have kept him busy for the past 10 months!

"I am excited to finally be able to share new work that I have spent most of this year creating.  At the end of last year, I learned that I was awarded a Project Grant from the Regional Arts and Culture Council intended to help established artists further develop their work.
The grant has partially funded my ability to lock myself away in the studio and focus on my art. The concept of balance is the primary theme I am exploring in this work. Many spiritual traditions speak of balance as the underlying principle of the universe.  I've been investigating the relationship of 2 & 3 dimensional designs, combining sculpture,
painting, & technical craft to create works of art that have the
luminosity of cellular enameling & stained glass."

The exhibit unveils 4 highly intricate newly completed
paintings including the first in the new series
"The Plight of Humanity in the 21st Century"

Friday, December 6th    *    5:00pm - 8:00pm

Olympic Mills Commerce Center    *    107 SE Washington St.

For those of you planning to attend, we want to share building information

and other art happenings in the Central Eastside during our event.

The Olympic Mills Building (on the National Register of Historic Places) is located in the Central Eastside Design District, and our exhibit is on the main level in the NW corner of the building. The main entrance to the building is on SE Washington. Enter there and stroll through the fabulous building to find us on the opposite side.

For our friends with mobility issues:  Wheel chair access to the building is at the Washington Street entrance. However, there is a door on SE Stark which opens right into our exhibit.  If you are walking, you will want to park close to this door.  There are 3-5 steps at this entrance.

Parking: There is plenty of street parking in the area and we expect you to be able to find open spaces after business hours. The building is also easily accessible by streetcar and the number 6 bus line.

Dinner: We'll be serving snacks and beverages, but for those of you interested in having dinner in the area, there are plenty of great options!  Olympic Provisions is located inside the same building.  Within a 1-6 block walk, you will find:  Produce Row Cafe, Montage,Slow Burger, OSO Market, Eastbank Saloon, Clarklewis, Central Eastside Foodcarts and many more!

If you are interested in more art:
the Zimbabwe Artist Project is hosting their annual holiday sale
on Friday evening. They are located in the Olympic Mills building as well.  It is also First Friday Artwalk in the Central Eastside. Many artists have their studios open and galleries in the area are hosting openings through 9pm.  There are lots of places to visit in great historic buildings! We'll try to have some brochures on hand.
