COMPETITION CHEER AT STATES
Congratulations to the Competition Cheerleading Team on a wonderful season! The Coed Team finished 7th in the state of Georgia, which is a huge accomplishment. This was the team's second year in the Coed division. The Coed Team finished their season with five 1st place victories and 1 second place finish. Congratulations to Savannah Bailey who was named the Runner-Up for the Georgia Cheerleader of the Year. A special thank all of the family, friends, and teammates who attended Columbus this weekend. This was the best cheering section that we have seen. You truly welcomed us into the arena and kept the energy going the whole time we performed. Thank you!

SAVANNAH BAILEY SELECTED
FOR  ALL STATE CHEER TEAM
ALL-STATE CHEERLEADER OF THE YEAR RUNNER UP
AND SCHOLARSHIP WINNERBAILEY
Savannah Bailey, of Milton High School, was selected as the 2015 Georgia High School Association Cheerleader of the Year Runner up and scholarship winner at the GHSA Cheerleading State Championships held in Columbus, Georgia on November 14, 2015. The top two highest scorers in the All State Competition were selected and announced as winners. Savannah Bailey is the first ever nominee from Milton High School for this prestigious honor and scholarship and the first to be named one of the top two in the State. Bailey had been named to the All-State Cheerleading squad of the Georgia Cheerleading Coaches' Association competition held at Columbus State University on August 8, 2015. Nominated by her cheer coach, Dr. Missy Marsh, Savannah competed against 134 other senior cheerleaders from high school programs across Georgia in the first portion of the competition based on the scholarship application, letters of recommendation, essay and community service. Competing August 8, 2015 at Columbus State University were the 40 cheerleaders who were selected as finalists. The finalists were judged via an interview process and then presented a two-minute cheerleading routine which showcased their cheering, tumbling and stunting skills. The top 16 All-State cheerleaders were announced on site after the completion of the August competition. The All-State cheerleading squad was presented at the GHSA Cheerleading State Championships held in Columbus, Georgia on November 14, 2015. The Georgia Cheerleader of the Year Runner Up and scholarship winners, the top two scorers in the All-State competition, were announced, and all scholarships were presented. The Georgia Cheerleading Coaches' Association annually awards scholarships of over $3500.00 to the GCCA All-State Squad.

MILTON'S TEACHER OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to  Mr. Chris Schumick for being named  November Teacher of the Month TOTM
Philosophy of teaching: Mr. Schumick believes that the students in a school music ensemble are owed a leader who can engage a large and diverse group of learners while still meeting the educational needs of the individual musicians. Along with life skills learned by participating in the fine arts such as teamwork and responsibility, participating in music can help a student form a greater sense of self and accomplishment at a critically important time in their lives.
