Fall Wellness Activities 
 
It is September and the start of our Biometric Screening Season. The on-campus screening dates (Sept. 15 - Nov. 30) are open for scheduling at the Quest website (use registration key CWRU). Registering for an early fall appointment is suggested.

This is the third year we are asking employees to participate and you may be wondering why.
  1. Most importantly, it provides valuable information about your current health status. We hope you will share these results during your next health care provider visit.
  2. The aggregate data received each year helps us determine necessary programs and resources. For example, if a decrease in physical activity is noted we will work on adding more opportunities to be active at work.
Please note that all the results are de-identified so we do NOT see any individual results.  
  
Today is September 1st and the Health Risk Appraisal and Tobacco Attestation Form are now available within HCM.  Please make sure that you complete them prior to November 30th if you wish to receive the $25 monthly Wellness Premium Incentive in 2016 (available for all faculty and staff using one of our medical plans).  The Health Risk Appraisal is available at www.case.edu/hra.  The Tobacco Attestation Form is available within HCM Main Menu - Self Service - Benefits - Tobacco Attestation Form (click on your answer choice and then the save button).
 
You may confirm that all wellness activities have been completed by going into HCM Main Menu -
Self Service - Personal Information - Wellness Summary
 Once there is a check mark and date next to each of the three activities, you will know that your participation has been documented in the system.

We've Added Another Mindfulness Class
Due to overwhelming interest in our September 3 Mindfulness session, we have added a second 8-week session. This series of interactive workshops is designed to teach the practice of mindfulness to improve your ability to focus and positively impact your overall health and well-being.

Healthy Eating at CWRU
It can be challenging to eat healthy, but CWRU is committed to making it a little bit easier.

At the vending machines, look for this green sign which indicates the machine is stocked with healthy choices. Each of the healthy options is flagged with a green tab and contains 220 or fewer calories.

You might take advantage of a local CSA like Fresh Fork Market.
National Childhood Obesity Month
Right now one in three children in the United States are overweight or obese. Childhood overweight generally leads to a lifetime of struggle with weight and diseases associated with overweight. Try these ideas to improve health in your own home:

Ease@Work Webinar
Our partner Ease@Work offers employees one-on-one counseling for a variety of issues from nutrition to elder care.
 
In addition, they have launched a webinar series to reach a broader audience. This month's webinar called "Shifting Gears" is scheduled to take place on September 15th at noon and again at 2 PM. This webinar will teach personal strategies on dealing with both the losses and the gains that change brings to your life.

Weight Watchers
At the end of September, Weight Watchers is offering an "INSPIRE" open house to showcase success stories and kick start fall weight loss goals.
In addition, guests will be given an "I Love Leftovers" cookbook and one insulated lunch bag.
