The following companies and organizations have agreed to be hosts for TCN's Future Leaders Program in 2016. The Future Leaders Program supports the Network's goal of inspiring the next generation of women leaders by providing outstanding sophomore and junior female college students, at TCN's partnering schools, t he opportunity to explore career paths in the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Now in its third year, the program will serve a total of 36 students from DePaul, St. Xavier, and UIC. MARY DILLON FEATURED ON FORTUNE LIST

Mary Dillon (2010), CEO of Ulta Beauty, ranked #6 on Fortune's annual Businessperson of the Year list . Fortune noted, "Mary Dillon, CEO for two years, is wisely spending to bolster Ulta's e-commerce backbone and its stores while still managing to boost the company's operating income as a percentage of sales. Ulta plans to add several hundred stores by 2019 to reach 1,200 locations. Meanwhile, the company has generated a 42% stock increase over the past 12 months, roughly 38 percentage points better than the S&P 500." Read more...
 
CHRISTIE HEFNER FEATURED ON "BLOOMBERG MARKETS" 
Christie Hefner (1979), Chairman at Hatch Beauty and former Chief Executive Officer and Chairman at Playboy Enterprises, spoke with "Bloomberg Markets," where she examined the U.S. minimum wage and the political pursuit of female voters.

DORRI MCWHORTER ON THE "BUSINESS HUG"
Dorri McWhorter (2015), CEO of YWCA Metropolitan Chicago, was featured in a Chicago Tribune article about the "business hug." The article notes that Dorri thinks business would be better off if more people hugged. The certified-public-accountant-turned-social-services-crusader fondly remembers "breaking down" chilly partners at her former accounting firm with a hug. Now, she hugs co-workers on Fridays, because she expects to miss them over the weekend. She does make an exception to her frequent hugging - she usually skips it in the boardroom. 
 
"I've been in proposal situations and I'm always like, 'Should I hug 'em? If we were not in this room right now I'd really be hugging them,'" Dorri McWhorter said. Read more...

MCDONALD'S TO LAUNCH "MCPICK 2"
McDonald's (Gloria Santona (2005)) is launching new deal that may have similar appeal to its popular Dollar Menu. Starting January 4th of next year, the fast-food chain will launch the "McPick 2" menu, which will let customers pick two items from a selected menu for a total price of $2. Read more...

In total, 2,426 companies were invited to participate. LOIS SCOTT ELECTED TO MBIA INC. BOARD OF DIRECTORS
MBIA Inc. announced that Lois A. Scott (2011) was elected to the Company's Board of Directors, where she will serve as a member of the Audit Committee. Lois is President of Epoch Advisors LLC, a private financial services company that advises clients on strategic business issues. From May 2011 to May 2015, Lois served as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Chicago. She also served as a Trustee for two pension plans covering City employees.

MBIA Chairman of the Board Charles Rinehart said, "Lois' 30 years of public finance experience as an issuer, underwriter and financial advisor is an ideal combination of experience for MBIA Inc.'s Board as we move forward. 2020 WOMEN ON BOARDS RELEASES 2015 GENDER DIVERSITY INDEX

Women continue to make gains in the boardrooms of Fortune 1000 companies according to 2020 Women on Boards' just-released 2015 Gender Diversity Index (GDI). Women now hold 18.8% of board seats of GDI companies. The GDI has tracked the number of women on boards since 2011 using the Fortune 1000 list from 2010 as a baseline of comparison. This year, the GDI is comprised of 842 companies. Read more...

INGREDION HONORED AS CORPORATE GAME CHANGER BY WOMEN'S FORUM
Ingredion Incorporated ( Ilene S. Gordon (1989)), a leading global provider of ingredient solutions to diversified industries, and Ilene Gordon, chairman and CEO, were recognized by the Women's Forum of New York at the third biennial Breakfast of Corporate Champions for achieving 40 percent female representation on the board. The company is among an elite group honored as game-changers who have nearly achieved full gender parity.

"We are proud of our board diversity. To deliver maximum shareholder value, it is imperative to have a balanced board - directors who are diverse in gender, ethnicity, background, thought and culture. DIANE WOOD FIRST WOMAN TO RECEIVE JOHN SHERMAN AWARD 
On Friday, November 13, 2015, the U.S. Department of Justice honored Diane Wood (2010), Chief Judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals, Seventh Circuit, with its John Sherman Award. The John Sherman Award is named after Senator John Sherman, who authored our nation's first antitrust law, the Sherman Act, in 1890.  
 
Established in 1994, the Sherman Award represents the highest antitrust honor presented by the U.S. Department of Justice and recognizes individuals whose commitment to sound antitrust policy have made 'substantial contributions to the protection of American consumers and the preservation of economic liberty'. P rior to this year, the award had been presented to 10 individuals. Dianne is the eleventh recipient, and the first woman to be honored.
TERRA FOUNDATION ANNOUNCES $8.4 MILLION IN GRANTS FOR FY 2015
The Terra Foundation for American Art announced more than $8.4 million was awarded in fiscal year 2015 (July 1, 2014-June 30, 2015) for nearly 70 initiatives and partnerships worldwide.

"When we began our grant making program ten years ago, our objective was to foster the exploration, understanding, and enjoyment of the visual arts of the United States among audiences across the globe and use those experiences to stimulate rich cross-cultural dialogues," explained Terra Foundation President & CEO Elizabeth Glassman (2015). "The wide range of grants awarded in the past fiscal year demonstrate significant progress in achieving that goal. This is just one example of the meaningful impact of our work internationally," added Elizabeth. "Since 2005 we've awarded more than $66 million for more than 500 similarly thought-provoking projects in countries around the world, including Australia, Brazil, China, Israel, Japan, Russia, and South Korea." CHICAGO HOSTS YEARLONG INTERNATIONAL SHAKESPEARE FESTIVAL
Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel was joined by Chicago Shakespeare Theater Artistic Director Barbara Gaines (2011), Executive Director Criss Henderson, and leaders of the City's cultural institutions to announce Shakespeare 400 Chicago, a yearlong international arts festival in 2016 celebrating the playwright's vibrancy, relevance and reach. As the world commemorates 400 years since Shakespeare's death in 1616, this Quadricentennial festival explores how his words continue to live in Chicago - uniting our city's cultural, creative and educational institutions, and welcoming leading artists from around the globe to make Chicago their stage. 55TH ANNUAL THANKSGIVING FEAST TO FEED HUNDREDS AT LA RABIDA CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
On Thursday, November 26, 2015, La Rabida Children's Hospital (Brenda J. Wolf (2012)) and ACF Chicago Chefs of Cuisine are hosting the 55th Annual Thanksgiving Feast, which brings together donors and volunteer chefs to prepare a holiday meal for hundreds of patients and their families.
ROHINI DEY AT RESTAURANT FINANCE AND DEVELOPMENT CONFERENCE  
Rohini Dey (2008), Founder and Owner of the Vermilion Restaurants, served on the panel at the Restaurant Finance and Development Conference in Las Vegas, November 9-11. The panel discussed the taxing issue of tipping. Rohini Dey shared that while she's not against tipping, "the real issue is how to repeal laws that don't allow tips to be shared with the back of the house. While the front of the house gets the glory, it's the kitchen, or production center, where the skill and dedication of the cooks should be rewarded in the same manner as the servers." Read more...

SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY PROFESSOR DIGITALLY RECONSTRUCTS NEW SPECIES OF FOSSIL AMPHIBIAN
Saint Xavier University ( Christine Wiseman (2012)) and the Field Museum joined forces to better understand our world 278 million years ago and the ancient animals that roamed the southern tropics. In a study published in Nature Communications, scientists from The Field Museum and colleagues from around the world describe several new amphibian species and a reptile from northeastern Brazil that help fill this key geographic gap and reveal how animals moved among regions in the supercontinent. SXU Assistant Professor Rudyard Sadleir in the Department of Biological Sciences joined the collaboration to extract and digitally reconstruct the new species of fossil amphibian that was still buried in the rock.
