SPORTS
*  Play Ball!  The Top Gun Softball Winter World Series returns Oct 31-Nov 1.  42 youth softball teams from 4 states will play between Bradford Park in Huntersville and Westmoreland Athletic Complex in Cornelius.

*  The Lake Norman Fall Classic, a Southern Thanksgiving tradition returns for the 24th year Nov 21-22.  Youth soccer teams from 7 states will compete at locations throughout the region including Barry Park and North Meck Park in Huntersville.

*  Start Your Engine!  Ray Evernham's 3rd annual AmeriCarna LIVE car show presented by Ingersoll Rand and MSC Industrial Supply Co. will be held on Sat, Nov 28.  The show will be open to all cars and held at Ingersoll Rand's North American Corporate Headquarters in Davidson.  The show is open to the public for $5 per person and kids under 10 are free!

* Go Cats!  Don't miss the defending A-10's regular season champions, Davidson College Wildcats men's basketball home opener Nov 14 and against UCF.  Three additional home games are in Nov, click here for tickets.
FOOD & BREWS
* Congratulations to  D9 Brewery in Cornelius who's Head of the Horsemen Pumpkin Ale was recently ranked #7 in Paste Magazine's top 45 Pumpkin Ale's!  D9 is also celebrating its one year anniversary with a Haunted Tap House, tonight Oct 30.  The brewery will open at 2pm and festivities begin at 6pm.  The taproom will be transformed into a classic haunted house scene.  The brewery is taking over its own taps and releasing 13 new beers at the event.  Each beer will have a candy pairing and have 12 beer tombstone flights.

* Rural Hill will host an Oyster Roast Sun, Nov 15 from 2-6pm.  A $10 ticket is good for a basket of 8-10 perfectly roasted and seasoned oysters cooked by nationally recognized chef and award winning author Dan "the pig man" Huntley. Huntley specializes in bringing Southern food traditions such as pig pickings, oyster roasts, catfish fries, and low country shrimp boils to crowds around the region.

* Bayne Brewery in Cornelius will host Baynesgiving Sat, Nov 21 beginning at 2pm and will feature family friendly activities including thanksgiving style food, music, bounce house, face painting, raffles and a canned food drive.

* Nominations Wanted!  VLN is seeking nominations for its "Making Waves" Hotel Awards program, which recognizes the very best in Lake Norman's hospitality staff.  Click here for nomination details.
