A Message from the Hendrickson Family

August is a great month for planting perennials and shrubs. There's still plenty of time for new plantings to get established before the first hard freeze, and our plants are at the lowest prices of the season thus far. We will continue to

have an excellent selection of healthy perennials in-stock at both store locations through mid-September (we will be closing for the season at the end of September). We encourage you to stop in and get inspired! Whether you're ready to install a new bed or need to fill in bare spots in existing gardens, we have the product and expertise to help you find the perennials you need.

We also have a great selection of fall ornamentals at both locations that work great in containers or in the garden. If your annuals are looking a bit worn out, replace them with some mums or kale and enjoy fresh color well into fall:)

**New Plants Arriving Weekly**

Our hibiscus is in full bloom these days. We are frequently asked how to best overwinter hardy hibiscus. Here's our answer:

1. Plant in a sunny and protected location.

2. After a hard frost occurs, cut back the plant leaving 4-6" of stem.

3. Cover with a generous layer mulch.

4. In the spring, pull back the mulch and be patient--hibiscus are usually the last perennial in the garden to green up in the spring...sometimes not until early June.

Though hibiscus may not survive extremely cold winters with little snow cover (like the one we experienced last year), they are much tougher than they look. With such showy blooms, they're definitely worth a try!

Fall Mums are Here!

The kids are almost ready to head back to school, and Labor Day is just around the corner, which to us means MUM SEASON!!

We currently have a great selection of mums, asters, kale, and other fall ornamentals that are ready to brighten up your pots and patio. Our current fall inventory includes:
