Three Students Present at
HSPA Academic Symposium
Seniors Naomi Lyle, Kevin Durham and Gianni Venson present papers in
Academic Symposium.
Three students recently represented Don Bosco Cristo Rey at the Archdiocese of Washington High School Principals Association Academic Symposium. Students from 17 Catholic High Schools were given the chance to submit papers, and  three DBCR seniors, Naomi Lyle, Kevin Durham and Gianni Venson, were chosen to present at the Symposium, at the Pryzbyla Center at The Catholic University of America. Their riveting topics were:  The Financial Crisis and Catholic Social Teaching (Kevin Durham),   American Childhood Obesity Crisis   (Naomi Lyle), and Sexism: Is It Really
A Thing of the Past?  (Gianni Venson). Please join us in congratulating these students for representing us well in this unique opportunity, which contributed to thought-provoking academic discussion.

Blessed by the Brothers!
Br. Benito Guerrero, Jr., SDB, adds to the Salesian presence while spending his spring break away from studies at DBCR.
Salesian Spring Break
Every year, professed brothers in formation with the Salesians are sent to various communities to gain first hand experience of living in a school community. We welcomed Brothers Benito Guerrero, Jr., and Rafael Vargas to campus this year who dove into attending classes, meetings, and school clubs, while serving lunch duty and registering donors at the blood drive! Wherever their help was needed, Br. Benito and Br. Rafael brought their joy, energy and Salesian Spirit to the role. Each night, the visiting Brothers spent time with Fr. Steve and Brother Tom at the Salesian Residence to reflect upon their experiences. Having not known much about DBCR before he came, Brother Benito summed up his week with these words:

I am left with no doubt that the students are the reason why I was called to be a Salesian!  This short time in a school environment truly gave me a new perspective on my formation and while I had to return to New Jersey to get back to school, I truly miss being with everyone at Don Bosco Cristo Rey.  This is without a doubt an incredibly special school and I will forever carry each student and staff member with me in my prayers and in my heart.
