Bee Heaven Farm CSA ~ Redland Organics

Farm News, CSA & Summer Sales
Hi,

Farm News

Summer vacations are over - school starts this coming week in Miami-Dade. Are you looking for healthy options to pack for school or office? quick meals to prepare in the heat? There's an abundance of fruit, herbs to help you spice up your meals, eggs, heirloom beans, and responsibly-raised tilapia to complete your protein needs, honey to provide a sweet finish, and more...
We're getting to the last of our JUMBO-sized our Donnie avocados. We also have Hardee with a maroon skin, and Russell with a loooooong neck full of flesh.
We have Diamond River longans and some Kohala longans - get some of each to compare these two varieties.
Our " Not Your Hana's Bananas", are cooperating with a nice harvest. These are awesome, full of flavor, little fat bananas, totally unlike those you find at the stores nowadays. They're naturally a single serving size and fit perfectly in a lunch bag
We still have some pretty amazing Gold Nugget and Keitt mangoes available, but t not for long. They're at the end of their harvest. Mangoes freeze really well both for fresh eating and for cooking later on.
Bignay/Antidesma is a small berry that grows in clusters. Its intense flavor makes it a perfect candidate for making wine (at which it excels). I personally like to make a spread (butter) by simply boiling it down slowly, with some organic raw sugar, until it's nice and thick. We haven't had a harvestable crop in a few years, so we're excited to be able to offer it.
Jakfruit is happy in the rainy season. Take advantage of our labor-we offer cleaned pulp ready to eat. Buy extra - it keeps in the freezer perfectly for a quick snack.
Carambolas are love the warm rainy weather too. We have sweet light-colored Fwang Tung, Arkin, as well as other sweet and tart varieties. Dried carambolas are awesome and quite addictive - dry them yourself or pick up some of ours.
The smaller Pantin (aka Key West) mameys are still available.
Persian limes are juicy! Use these to add zing to your guacamole (and help keep the bright color of the avocados). Make a simple yet incredibly good salad dressing with freshly-squeezed lime juice, honey, some water to dilute and a pinch of salt.
Not too many veggies around, so check out the baby sunflower greens (great salad recipe here), peashoots, nopales (cactus pads), and Paradise Farms' oyster mushrooms and baby arugula.
Proteins? YES! Heirloom Frijol de Seda, Rachel's and Abigail Farm Eggs, responsibly-raised Tilapia (no chemicals or antibiotics, small operation, not high-density, biofilter water which is used to water/feed young mangrove plants for habitat restoration projects) - WHOLE-YOU CLEAN - easy to do - watch this quick video  . And for your pets - raw Redland-raised goat milk (per Florida law, labeled for pet use only, not for human consumption). These goats are fed certified organic feed.
Spice everything up with some summer herbs & spices - ripe allspice berries (I call these Nature's Altoids®), curryleaf, lemongrass, garlic chives, mint tips, hoja santa, betel leaves, basil (sweet and Thai), Florida Keys Sea Salt, gomasio, and Moroccan-style preserved citrus pickle with just a bit of heat to spice things up.
If you hadn't checked lately, we have our local Wildflower and Tropical Fruit farm honey, but we also have delicious Palmetto honey from around the Arcadia/Okeechobee area, and Gallberry honey from North Florida. Try these - each is deliciously unique.
And there are wonderful Rochelois jams, as well as Goat Milk Soaps in a plethora of delicious scents! All these products are seasonally made in small batches with Redland-raised ingredients.
There's just too much good stuff to list it all, so you'll just have to click on the webstore, look around, and place your order!
