Getting ready for the Big Time

More than 80  CJHS eighth grade band members joined the Carrollton High School Trojan Marching Band for a pregame performance last Friday night in Grisham Stadium. Following the performance, band members stayed and played in the stands with the upperclassmen, pictured below. The CJHS band program provides a tremendous foundation for students before they enter high school. Many thanks to Director Joe Huls for his exceptional program!

Trojan University
orientation Tuesday

Trojan University will have its fourth parent orientation/sign up session on Tuesday, Sept. 15, from  4:45 to 5:30 p.m. in the Media Center. To help parents, this will be on a drop-in basis.

Students wanting to join should come with their parents to this orientation, if possible. Should someone not be able to make it that day, he/she needs to contact the TU office, Mrs. Thomaston or Miss Driver for individual appointments.

Walk and Roll
Wednesday  is back!
Join students from Carrollton Elementary, Carrollton Middle and Carrollton Junior High schools every Wednesday from Sept. 16 until Oct. 28 to participate in a group walk or bike ride from one of two designated Carrollton GreenBelt trailheads.

Designated departure times are as follows:

Carrollton GreenBelt trailhead at McIntosh Plaza, located in the southwest corner of the Target parking lot on Highway 27:
CJHS - 7:30a.m.
CES and CMS - 7:40a.m.
or
Carrollton GreenBelt trailhead on Hays Mill Road, just north of the Hays Mill Overlook subdivision:
CJHS - 7:15am
CES and CMS - 7:30am

All students or student groups must be accompanied by an adult.

Last spring, Carrollton City Schools partnered with Tanner Health System's Get Healthy Live Well campaign and a local Safe Routes to School initiative to promote Walk & Roll Wednesday, an effort to draw attention to the value of walking and biking to school as alternatives to riding in cars.
Learn about new travel
opportunity this Tuesday

Have you ever heard of William Shakespeare? Of course you have, but do you know Anne Hathaway? On the 24th Annual International Trip, we will explore the homestead of both Shakespeare and Hathaway. Stratford was the home town of Shakespeare and is also the home to the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.

Former teacher, Mr. Morris, is back to offer the opportunity of a lifetime to the students of Carrollton.  Bring a friend and attend the first meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 15, at 6 p.m. in the CJHS media center. Join the tradition. Join the fun. Join your friends as you travel the world.
