KCHC Grief & Loss Specifically For Young Adults

Grief and loss are subjects most prefer to avoid.  Scripture tells us suffering and grief are to be  expected  and God's comfort is available.
However, many believers experience spiritual conflict,  or crises, after a loss and feel unsupported by their faith community.  Any unhealed area in our lives keeps us from  enjoying God's best and thriving in our life.

The goal of this 8 week course is to provide assistance to those who are grieving as well as to provide
practical education on how to  minister
to those who have suffered loss.

This course will:
  • Explore the unique importance of this topic for those who are in their 20's & 30's.
  • Describe loss, exploring why we have trouble with it.
  • Define grief, tasks of mourning, and the emotions & myths.
  • Contrast what is, and is not, helpful.
  • Process how to say goodbye to the pain.
  • Offer steps for building your life after a loss and pursuing your life's purpose.
  • Discuss together how to employ our own healing to build meaningful friendships.
Format:  Weekly 2 hour sessions.
One hour of information and one hour of application
ABOUT THE TEACHER
Chris Ledin is an IHOPU (FMA) graduate and was on staff with IHOP-KC for 7 years serving on worship teams as a drummer and in the IT department. He now works full time in the marketplace as a network engineer and is attending school full time working towards a degree in IT. Chris has lead several small-groups and served in leadership at various ministries in the Kansas City area. He recently participated in a grief and loss class through KCHC. Over the last years, through being faced with loss and suffering himself, he has become increasingly aware of his own and our culture's deficiency to deal with grief and loss. He is passionate about enabling people to encounter God in the midst of pain and suffering and giving them tools to support, love, and help each other as Christ does.
