A Dream of Giving Hope
|
Back when OTR wasn't the place to visit, Jim Day worked at Parkway & 12th Street at MacGregor & Goldsmith.
He saw so many in need and knew he would help one day.
All of his life, Jim has been a kind and compassionate individual involved in the community. He always remembered Tender Mercies, so when it became possible to give back, Jim and his wife Elaine started donating to Tender Mercies. They have given generously for over 20 years and are thankful for the opportunity to help our residents rebuild their lives.

Tears of Sorrow to Tears of Joy
|
Even after being abused, over medicated and left with nothing, June remains full of courage, strength, and compassion. Determined to fulfill her dream, she became a teacher despite heartache and constant struggles.
After her
mother's death, father's murder, rape, and collapsing in front of her
students, June became homeless after resigning from her job to recover. Trying to help a neglected child, June was threatened with a gun. June had to run; the child's parents were drug traffickers.
She was saved by Tender Mercies.
"My tears turned from sorrow to tears of joy. Turning that key in my own door at 1214 Race Street felt like I had been set free."
June
is now an involved community member as a Board member of various groups, the Artist in Residence at Peaslee Neighborhood Center, and a piano student.
