It Made Me Think of My First Sponsor
Owning a successful business rescued me from a dead-end job, massive debt and an abusive relationship. I wanted other people to experience entrepreneurial empowerment, so I created the Women's Small Business Expo.
Knock Down the Obstacles
One of the biggest obstacles I had was that I didn't have any money. I saw that women's business conferences were sponsored by corporations and it gave me an idea. I could have companies sponsor me.
I Was a Woman on a Mission
I was stuck in a traffic jam and noticed a billboard for Bank of America. I thought, "What if they could sponsor me?" I got my sponsor proposal done and approached them.
Could it Be?
Bank of America actually replied and showed an interest in sponsoring me. At the appointment I was so nervous I had to sit on my shaking hands for the first few minutes of the meeting.
Stay Calm Now
Once I met the sponsorship manager, I completely relaxed because he was such a great guy. He gave me a 5-figure sponsorship. I wanted to do a happy dance right there in his office.
Nothing In My Life Would Ever Be the Same
My life was transformed forever. Driving back home, I waved to all of the Bank of America branches and basked in the euphoria of closing my first sponsor deal.
Now My New Business Was No Longer a Dream
It was real because a sponsor believed in me. I had the revenue and resources to do big things.
