A Message from Craig S. Denison
"A Better Life for All. A Better Life for You."

The United Way of Greater Kingsport (UWGK) has raised $3.0 million, or 75%, of its $4 million campaign goal.  The dollars raised by the UWGK stay in the Greater Kingsport community to improve the lives of local families, friends, and neighbors.  Our organization raises, invests, and leverages funds to create innovative programs and initiatives aimed at generating sustained community impact.
The UWGK's 2015 Campaign Theme--A Better Life For All.  A Better Life For You.--underscores the value of giving it forward and getting it back.  We know Greater Kingsport is a great place to live, work, and raise a family.  Now, United Way is encouraging community members to ask:  "Could It Be Better?"  To us, making it better means that everyone in the community has an opportunity for a quality education, financial stability, and good health.  We know our entire community benefits from productive individuals and stable families. Our children perform better in school, our neighborhoods are safer, and our communities are healthier when you invest in United Way.
Help us Make It Better!  Give. Advocate. Volunteer.

Live United!

Horses Empower Heroes Staff

Small Miracles' Horses Empower Heroes Program promotes the self-sufficiency and emotional well-being of veterans by enhancing cognitive, emotional, and social growth through strength-based, experiential, unmounted equine-assisted activities and therapies (EAAT).
Horses, by nature, live in a hyper-vigilant state similar to veterans with PTSD. They can instantly process their veteran's emotions and reactions, teaching the veteran positive coping and social skills. Trauma-focused EAATs help veterans process past events by becoming self-aware, living in the moment, and moving forward in life. Some obstacles that have been addressed and overcome in our program include TBI, PTSD, major depression, substance abuse, and military sexual trauma.
Because Small Miracles believes the men and women of our military have already sacrificed so much, we provide the Horses Empower Heroes (HEH) program free of charge. We estimate that during 2016, Small Miracles will be donating $60,000 in HEH services. HEH and Small Miracles are committed to serve our veterans by helping ensure their well-being and quality of life. "It's not about SURVIVING, It's about THRIVING."
Small Miracles is located at 1026 Rock Springs Drive, Kingsport, TN 37664. For more information, please contact Sherri Russell, Executive Director, at (423) 349-1111 or visit their website.
