New Programs Just Added to WSCP Fall Offerings

Learn to Code Apps - Programs Offered After-School    

Students at all three elementary schools and Wayland Middle School (Grades 6-7) may enroll until September 30 in "Codecampkids" coding classes to be offered in all four schools.  Questions:  http://codecampkidz.com/Course   

STEM for KIDS  

Brought to WSCP through STEM Beginnings of Shrewsbury, these classes are for K-2 students and are designed to build and sustain interest in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. The focus is on play and everyday activities that are fun for children yet incorporate STEM concepts.More information is available on the WSCP Community Education website.

Internet Safety Expert
Adults Only

WHS Auditorium

Come listen to National Internet safety expert Katie Greer, Sept. 29th,7-8:30PM at the Wayland High School Auditorium. Katie will be speaking with our middle and high school students during the day. Hear firsthand what she has to say about today's internet concerns as they relate to our children. The talk in the evening is for adults only. Katie will share what she told the students during the day as well as provide additional information for parents. Parents of all age children are welcome. 

Katie is a former Intelligence Analyst, Massachusetts State Police Former Director of Internet Safety, Massachusetts Attorney General’s Office Advisory Board Member, on the Internet Keep Safe Coalition and a regular contributor to Modern Mom. She has been featured in USA Today, TIME Magazine, Good Housekeeping, Proctor and Gamble Everyday, on The O’Reilly Factor, CNN, and AJAM. She has presented to hundreds of thousands of students, parents, educators and administrators across the country.

Breakfasts at Mels
Grades K - 5
Begins September 16, 7:15 AM

Calling all Wayland dads!  Come be a part of a long-standing Wayland tradition by joining other fellow dads and their daughters at the monthly Wayland Father/Daughter Breakfast at Mel's Commonwealth Cafe. We get together at 7:15am on the third Wednesday of each month (starting September 16th) at Mel's for a full buffet breakfast, great conversation with other dads and their daughters, and weekly raffle prizes for the kids. Open to all dads and their daughters in K-5th grade. No need to sign up. Just show up and enjoy the company. We hope to see you there!

Registration is now open for the Wayland Youth Basketball's winter leagues.  WYB offers options for boys and girls grades K-8 to participate and develop skills in the sport of basketball.   Note that registration for both the boys' and the girls' Metrowest leagues closes on Sept. 26th and tryouts begin on Sept. 27th.

Lobsterfest!

Sandy Burr Country Club

Lobsterfest is coming back to Wayland, Sunday, October 4th.  Extend your summer and join us for a dinner buffet featuring lobster, steak tips and chicken at Sandy Burr from 5-7:30 pm. For tickets, call 508-358-2990. Tickets are $60. Invite your family, friends and neighbors!  Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Wayland Council on Aging.

Big Kids Book Buddies (k-3)

This hands on event is open to all WCPA members and non-members in elementary school.  We will be discussing The Popcorn Book by Tomi De Paola.  As a group we will discuss the book, make a craft in the theme of the book and have a light snack.  If you are interested in joining please email [email protected]

Wayland XC Festival

Fun for the Entire Family

The tenth-annual Wayland XC Festival will be held on Sunday, October 11 at the Wayland High School. It’s a cross-country running festival with races for all ages, including two 3-kilometer races for young runners and an open 5-kilometer race. The Wayland XC Festival is a fundraiser for the Wayland High School cross-country teams. This is a fun event that the whole family can enjoy! The 10 and under 3k race starts at 9:30am, the 3k race for 11 to 14 year olds starts at 10:00am and the open 5k race starts at 10:30am. Dennis Rosen, M.D., author of Vital Conversations: Improving Communication Between Doctors and Patients, will offer concrete suggestions on how you can get the most out of visits with your doctors.  Dennis Rosen, M.D. is a pediatric pulmonologist at Boston Children's Hospital and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School who writes regularly for the medical press as well as for The New York Times, The Boston Globe, and The Pacific Standard.  Wayland Free Public Library
