Workshop for Wardens 2015

A “Workshop for Wardens” in the Diocese of Iowa will be held on:

Saturday, March 14^th
from 9:30am—3pm
at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Grinnell

Whether you are a new warden or one who has served for a while, come learn what the ministry means to you and the life of your congregation—from leadership to legalities to long-term success. Each time this workshop has been held the participants gave it high praise for understanding the warden’s role, strategies for working through difficult situations, and having a group with whom to share thoughts about common responsibilities.

The Workshop will be led by our Diocesan Chancellors, Tom Carpenter and Linda Neuman, and by The Rev. Mel Schlachter, retired from Trinity, Iowa City and a long time parish priest and pastoral counselor. 

The cost is $15 for lunch and materials. Deadline for online registration is Tuesday, March 10.  Late registration is on a space-available basis and a $20 cost. 

Topics will include:

Leadership and Team Building
Governance “best practices”
Specific Vestry responsibilities for finance, property, staff, safety and interim times
The relationship to the clergy and their “care and feeding”
