Madison Adoption Associates completes another  successful Summer Hosting Program!!
The Illinois office of MAA said good-bye to the wonderful children who traveled from Heilongjiang province, China to participate in the Summer Hosting Program.

We are thrilled to announce that all of the children who visited with us have families interested in adopting them and making them a permanent member of their family!

MAA is grateful to the Host Families who gave these children a fantastic experience, the China chaperones who traveled with the children, our devoted Ming who came from Beijing to help the children return to China, and the tireless work of our Illinois staff - Michelle McGowan and Sara Oglesby - who made it all happen!

Putting Your Feelings on Paper

Therapeutic Writing can help parents and family members make sense of their innermost thoughts and complex emotions after an adoption.

"When we write long-hand, as opposed to writing on the computer or speaking, we get in touch with some organic human process, like free association or a dream almost, and material comes up that surprises us.  We let down our and go to a place that's very personal and real."

~ Joni Mantell, LCSW, Infertility and Adoption Counseling Center

In partnership with Storyteller Missions, The Sparrow Fund is busy preparing to go to the Baoji City orphanage in Shaanxi, China in October. We will be teaching an entry level English class to older children and staff and doing a nanny training. An additional way we plan to serve the staff is through presenting them with a book containing updates on children who have been adopted from that orphanage as well as photos of the families who will be bringing Baoji children home soon. We would like as many families as possible to be part of this project. If your family has adopted from Baoji or will be adopting from Baoji, please email [email protected] for all the details. The deadline to be included is August 31st so that we have plenty of time to create the book.

The Video Challenge is Still On!!
Share your family's adoption story.  Whether you adopted 10 years ago or you are leaving next week, we want to see your story on video.  MAA staff will vote to select the top 3 videos to receive cash awards.  All videos may be featured on MAA's new website.

1st Place: $500 ~  2nd Place: $250 ~  3rd Place: $100

  • Videos should tell your family's unique adoption story, encourage others to adopt, and promote Madison Adoption Associates.
  • Videos should not be shorter than 4 minutes and not longer than 10 minutes
  • Deadline is July 30, 2015
We look forward to seeing your inspiring, funny, creative videos!!
