Creative Thinking Toolbox for Small Business
Workshop 10/28  1-3pm

WARNING: DO NOT ATTEND THIS WORKSHOP... unless you want to turbo-charge your thinking skills...

Do you have an established small business or are you thinking of starting one? Finding creative solutions to your customers' needs is a daily chore. In a fast-moving and crowded marketplace, those who innovate and offer a more creative approach often win.

In this 2-hour, interactive workshop, we open the vault and share some of the Creativity secret weapons used from Silicon Valley to Madison Avenue. Large companies have been using these techniques for decades. You'll see the creativity hacks, shortcuts, and worm-holes not taught in college. Learn how to apply them to your business. They are quick to learn and can be applied instantly.

About Your Instructor: Jeff Cole is an author, consultant, and speaker who has trained over 5000 people in process improvement methods. He has over 30 years of experience in applying creativity techniques to help improve business processes. Jeff has helped organizations across a wide range of industries in public and private sectors, both domestically and abroad. He can be found at www.LSSCert.com.

Business Continuation in the Face of
Workshop 11/18  9-11am

Let's face it... no one likes to think about bad things happening to them, much less planning for them. Disaster Recovery Planning is one of those "important, not urgent" action items that (unfortunately) gets pushed to the back burner.

Do you have a plan?
  • How fast could your business realistically be back up and running in the event of any natural or human disaster?
  • What is your tolerance for the IT network (including phones) being down?
  • What does downtime cost your business?
  • What backup, security and business continuity systems are currently in place?
In this Workshop:
Learn the 7 key components of a SIMPLE Business Continuity Plan and leave the workshop with the beginnings of an actionable plan.

About Your Instructor:  Ellen Bailey is owner of Asset Business Computing and is known for speaking about technology in plain English with no "TechnoBabble"

HR Exchange Survey

The Miami Valley Human Resource Association (MVHRA) is interested in launching a HR Exchange but we need your feedback.  It will probably be a quarterly, interactive forum for anyone who has HR responsibility, including small business owners, office managers, and front line supervisors.

Our goal is to:
- Provide a forum to exchange ideas
- Discuss current HR trends
- Stay informed regarding upcoming legislation
- Provide chamber members another avenue for professional development and networking

To make the HR Roundtable a success, MVHRA will partner with local experts to moderate each meeting.  Please share with your colleagues.  We will offer a survey in November and hope you will participate as we value your input for planning purposes.

Please stay tuned!
