Message from Principal Gavron

As promised in my September Newsletter, I have begun a blog, "WMS Windows into the Classroom," through which Mr.Benzie and I will share glimpses into middle school classrooms.  My hope would be that you get a better feel for the amazing teaching and learning we see in classrooms day in and day out.  The first post is now available at the following link:

The LARK’s Nest is open… for applications!
Deadline 3PM, October 21

All students are invited to apply to become part of our technology student leadership team, the LARK’s Nest. Useful traits are a willingness to learn, being a good listener, a desire to explain things to others, creative problem solving, and knowing when to ask for help. Training will be provided in all areas, so all levels of expertise are welcome! For consideration, online applications should be submitted by 3pm on Wednesday, October 21st.

Destination Imagination
October 8, 7:00 PM
Grades K - 12
Wayland Middle School

In March 2016, Wayland will have the exciting honor of hosting a regional Destination Imagination Tournament which makes this a great time for Waylanders to get involved in DI! Is your child interested in Destination Imagination? Are you interested in being a team leader? Just want to learn more about DI?  Please come to our informational meeting on October 8, 7PM, at Wayland Middle School.

Private School Applications

While we hope you are enjoying your experiences with Wayland Public Schools, we also know that some families will choose to apply to private schools as an alternative educational option. As you will discover, part of the application process requires you to request transcripts and recommendations from WMS staff. Please be sure to carefully follow the process outlined HERE to ensure a timely, quality processing of your child’s application to private school.

Morning Drop-off
Begins at 7:15 AM

Unless your child participates in a supervised before school activity, such as AM Wellness or Select Chorus, please adhere to our starting drop-off time of 7:15AM. There are no teachers on duty and no supervision before that time. Thank you for helping to keep Wayland Middle School a safe place for our students.

After School Activities
Pickup Promptly Please

We are thrilled to offer such a variety of after school options for children - clubs, sports, musical groups, academic help, etc.  It is important for you to pickup your children promptly at the conclusion of their activities.

Please remember that students may not stay after school unless they are a part of a supervised activity or enrolled in BASE.
