The James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History, Wayne State University, will host Sculpture X Symposium 2015: Value Added, with co-sponsorship by the Frostic School of Art, Western Michigan University, the Penny Stamps School of Art and Design, University of Michigan, and Cranbrook Academy of Art. The symposium will take place October 9-10, on the campus of Wayne State University.

Whitdel Arts presents an exhibition of regional undergraduate sculpture students in conjunction with the SculptureX Symposium hosted by Wayne State University. Twenty students have been chosen from an open call distributed to undergraduate art programs across the Midwest and Eastern United States. Their work presents a wide range of approaches to the disciplines of sculpture and mixed media.

The 6th Annual Hamtramck Neighborhood Arts Festival
The HNAF festival takes over the city as artists open their home studios and music rises from backyards and empty lots. The whole thing moves from south to north as the day rolls on, culminating in a frenzy of events and performances. Kick off party, October 9, 7-10PM at Popps Packing. As part of the Hamtramck Neighborhood Arts Festival, Hatch Art Gallery will have Scott Northrup's solo exhibit "I WAS RIGHT HERE THE WHOLE TIME" open from 1-9pm. Open artists studios from 1:00pm-3:30pm. Scott Northrup will be hosting a screening of some of his found footage shorts. He might have zines, maybe a reading. That will be from 6-9pm, screening at 7pm.
