Monty is a 5-year-old neutered male Goldendoodle who received 3 months of physical rehabilitation therapy with CRCG after a TPLO surgery to stabilize his right stifle (knee) after he tore his cranial cruciate ligament or CCL (the canine equivalent of a human's ACL).  His owners were dedicated to his recovery, limiting his activity carefully, following our recommendations for walks and home exercises, and bringing him in every week for rehab visits.  His rehab therapy at CRCG consisted of laser therapy to decrease pain and inflammation, massage to tight muscles, and strengthening exercises to increase muscle mass in his hind limbs.  We also used the underwater treadmill to allow him to walk with the buoyancy of the water decreasing the stress on his joints and the resistance of the water providing extra work for his muscles.  With the help of his rehab therapy and hard work by his owners, he recovered smoothly and quickly.  Unfortunately, shortly after finishing rehab for his right stifle, he tore the CCL in his left stifle and had a TPLO surgery on that limb.  Because of the positive results with rehabilitation after his first surgery, his owners returned to us for another course of rehab after his second surgery.  He has minimal muscle atrophy (muscle loss) after his second surgery because of all the strengthening work we did after his first surgery so he's doing extremely well and making even faster progress the second time around.

Meet Dr. Jobe
Fetching More Out of Life

Dr. Liz Jobe was born and raised in the South, near Atlanta, Georgia, though she doesn't have a southern accent to prove it! Her family knew she would become a veterinarian upon the discovery of her sleeping outside in the doghouse with the family pets as a child. Dr. Jobe grew up playing soccer and competed for the US National team. At Clemson University, she was Captain of the Women's Soccer team and graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Animal and Veterinary Sciences in 2007. Upon graduation, Dr. Jobe attendedThe University of Georgia College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 2012.

Excited to get out West and to be in the mountains, Dr. Jobe moved to Santa Fe, NM, to start her veterinary career; however, her love for physical therapy and sports medicine led her to pursue a more specialized career as the Rehabilitation Director in a young and growing practice in Fort Collins, CO working both as a general practitioner as well as a rehabilitation therapist.  Looking to expand her skill set by managing multiple hospitals and continuing to provide high quality patient care solely focused on rehabilitation and conditioning,

Due to numerous knee surgeries from sports injuries, she spent a lot of time in physical therapy, enabling her to return to play at the highest level. She is particularly interested in canine athletes, whether rehabilitating an injury or working on core conditioning, and seeing them perform at their peak. Equally important for all of our companions, Dr. Jobe enjoys discussing nutrition and formulating weight loss plans, providing pain management including traditional and integrative therapies, improving recovery and building strength after surgery, and enhancing quality of life in geriatric pets. Her passion for rehabilitation is realized when managing complicated cases that provide growth in lifelong client relationships.

Dr. Jobe received her certification as a Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP) in 2013 through the advanced training program with the University of Tennessee, and received her certification as a Veterinary Medical Acupuncturist (cVMA) with Colorado State University in 2014.  Additionally, Dr. Jobe completed the Canine Course with the International Academy of Medical Massage for Animals in 2013. She is a USDA Accredited Veterinarian, member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, Colorado Veterinary Medical Association, and Denver Area Veterinary Medical Association.

Whenever she gets the chance, Dr. Jobe hits the trails or slopes for some hiking, backpacking, biking, or snowboarding. Traveling is a passion of hers, and she hopes to hike through Patagonia some day! Downtime involves cooking, reading, and relaxing with her AKC Canine Good Citizen named Bailey, who dances for her morning kibble, cool-cat Baloo, who doubles as a fur scarf at night, and McFly, the Siberian Forest cat who likes jumping in the shower!

Welcome Dr. Jobe!

What is Dachtober Fest?
Dachtober Fest (a non-profit 501(c)(3)) is a fun outdoor, event for dogs and their humans. There are contests and races for the dogs; shopping, food, and atmosphere for the humans. Did we mention all the cute dogs?

Why should I go to Dachtober Fest?
Proceeds from this event go to Wyoming Dachshund & Corgi Rescue and other small breed rescue groups. These groups provide foster homes, find forever homes, and help provide health care for dogs. Their actions align with Colorado Dachtober Fest's mission of
promoting rescue, foster care, and adoption of our furry friends.

2015 recipient rescue groups are Wyoming Dachshund & Corgi Rescue, Denver Dachshund Rescue & Transport, CO Japanese Chin Rescue, MidAmerica Boston Terrier Rescue, RM Cocker Rescue, and RM Yorkie Rescue.
