I write to you today with an important request - a request that can literally save a life.
While so many of the world's recent headlines have focused on market fluctuations, trade relations, pipelines, and the
presidential election, millions of our global neighbors have been indefinitely removed from their homes as they flee from
war, persecution and violence. For refugees who identify as gay, lesbian, or transgender, their plight can even be
life-threatening.

The world is currently experiencing the largest flow of refugees into Europe since World War II. Refugees are coming from
countries such as Syria and Iraq. Others, many of whom identify as LGBT, also continue to flee from persecution in nations such as Iran and Uganda. It is estimated that as many as 50,000 gays and lesbians will seek asylum in Germany alone this year!
Since 2000, Rainbow World Fund (RWF) has diligently worked to help people affected by natural and man-made disasters, hunger, poverty, and disease by raising awareness in, and funds from, the LGBT community to support global
humanitarian efforts. Our support has been felt around the world when the need was most acute - from Hurricane
Katrina in 2005, the Japanese Tsunami in 2011, to the Nepal earthquake earlier this year.
RWF has also provided hope in some of the world's darkest corners, including in Iraq and Uganda where many of our
LGBT brothers and sisters have been displaced or are fleeing persecution from ISIS. And now, with the ever-growing flow
of refugees seeking safety and shelter in Europe, RWF support is more critical than ever.
