This year is a milestone for "the little non-profit that could". Yes, nine years and over $3M later, we are celebrating our 10th Anniversary Walk Across Southeastern CT!

We have one very exciting change to announce. Eugene O'Neill Theater Center has joined our Foundation Sponsors by offering their sunken garden (for nice weather) or theater (for rain) for our closing ceremonies.  Therefore, our Walk will end and our closing ceremonies will be held at the Eugene O'Neill Theater Center in Waterford.

We know everyone will want to know how this is possible since it is further than Camp Harkness....yes, it is a half mile further; however, we have adjusted the route for full and half quarter marathons so that the mileage remains the same. More

Cancer? Seriously?

Filmmaker Melissa Burns and her team documented what happens after the cancer, after the chemo, after the radiation. The courageous women in this film are from the  Guilford and Madison areas and shared their stories with humor, with pain, with courage.

in 2007-2009, Melissa Burns, former TBBCF BOD member, collaborated with TBBCF on her first film production, After the Storm. TBBCF's Stacey Gualtieri is listed in the credits for Cancer? Seriously? film.

Keeping Logan's Promise
Logan's Promise honors its Founder, Norma Logan. Her promise in establishing this great organization was to direct 100% of gross fundraising dollars to breast cancer research and for the Foundation to be financially transparent so that everyone, from sponsors and donors to volunteers and walk participants, can plainly see that the organization is meeting its target. We are proud to bring you this edition of Logan's Promise.

Message from the Executive Director

Dear TBBCF Supporters,

Sandy Maniscalco - Interim Executive Director

Hope you are enjoying this great summer-like weather. I am happy to report that TBBCF - The Little Non-Profit that could - is on track! April and May proved to be every bit as active as the first quarter.  We accomplished a good deal in the past two months. It is largely thanks to the support of many volunteers who spent numerous hours working on the 10th Annual Meeting, the 2015 sponsorship campaign, marketing and website support and planning and executing visits with TBBCF 2014-15 grant recipients. More

TBBCF 10th Annual Meeting

The May 12 TBBCF 10th Annual Meeting was a huge success. About 55 individuals attended the event hosted and sponsored by the TBBCF Board. Participants enjoyed a buffet supper while enjoying the speaking program.  Speakers included Patti Burmahl, John LaMattina, PhD and Howie Brensilver, MD.

David Page, MD

In attendance was David Page, MD., from Memorial Sloan Kettering, our 2014 grant recipient who spoke about his breast cancer research using immunotherapy.

Eugen Dhimolea, PhD

Also speaking was Eugen Dhimolea, PhD, from Dana Farber Cancer Institute, a 2015 grant recipient, who is involved in a study that is expected to identify plausible therapeutic targets and potentially to generate a novel tool of personalized medicine for the evaluation of treatment options in patients with advanced breast cancer.
