Homa Kunda

Saturday is Ekadasi, eleventh day after a full or new moon. Priests will perform Sudarshan Homa on this day at the Sai temple Homa Kunda. Performing Sudarshana Homa on any Ekadasi or Saturday mulitplies the benefits of the Homa manifold, and tomorrow is Saturday and Ekadasi, which makes it very auspicious for this event.

Sudarshana Chakra is the weapon in the shape of a discus in Lord Vishnu's hand. The presiding deity of the Chakra, Lord Sudarshana is invoked in the havan and offerings made to Him.The Chakra is a shield of protection to those who adhere to Dharma and it is the annihilator of all who stray from the path of dharma. It is both a Protector and Destroyer. Performing Sudarshana Homa removes all sins and negative effects and bestows the devotee with happiness, peace and prosperity. 

Another attribute associated with the Chakra is it's healing power.This Homa brings relief from any kind of disease, illness, ill effects of accidents by spreading positive energy.

Soma Vara Pradosham, Monday, 7:00 PM,

Sri Venkateshwara Temple

Monday is Soma Vara Pradosham. Priests will perform Rudra Abishekam to Lord Shiva on this day.

One-and-a-half hours before sunset and one hour after sunset is considerd to be pradosha time every day. Offering prayers to any deity in this period is highly purifying. Trayodasi, the 13th day after a full or new moon is Pradosha and very special for Shiva. Performing abishekam to Him during this time period is immensely purifying. It is believed that Lord Shiva danced on Nandi Devas head, between his horns in this period, being satisfied with the devas' humility and devotion. Praying to Lord Shiva on this day with whole hearted devotion pleases Him and fulfills all the wishes of the devotee.
