A Message from Supervisor Ally Miller

Thank you for your many phone calls and emails in support of my efforts to end the policy of Pima County Supervisors doling out taxpayer dollars to their favorite charities and outside organizations.  Of all of the counties in Arizona, Pima County Supervisors are the only ones to allocate their office funds in this manner; according to the Goldwater Institute, using taxpayer funds in this way is a violation of the Arizona Constitution's Gift Clause.

The meeting this past Tuesday has had a lot of attention following Chair Bronson's decision to end the meeting swiftly, thus denying public comment on the matter (Click here for video clip). As far as I know, there has never been a time when a citizen has been denied the opportunity to speak at a meeting.

While I was the only Supervisor to vote to put an end to this practice at the September 16th meeting, (click here to view that vote), my fellow Supervisors will again have a chance to discuss this item at Tuesday's meeting.

I know many of you work and the meeting times are not conducive to your schedules but if you are interested in attending, the meeting is at 9:00 am this Tuesday, October 21st. The meeting  takes place in the 1st floor board room at 130 W. Congress in Downtown Tucson.

As always, thank you for allowing me to serve you; if you would like more information or have questions/comments, please contact my office (520) 724-2738 or send me an email at [email protected].

Sincerely,

Ally Miller
