A Valuable Workshop---not to be missed!
This workshop is packed full of useful information for both yoga practitioners and teachers. Most yoga classes are based off of the sun salutation. In this class, you will be introduced to completely new different ways to get in and out of classic yoga poses. These methods come from the tradition of Iyengar Yoga. Besides getting a whole new set of tools for your yoga practice, you will also learn to use the moon salutation with these techniques. We will delve deep into alignment and anatomy in major joint areas and discuss modifications and safety. You will certainly learn tools that will protect your joints for a lifetime of yoga!
This workshop fulfills the one-yoga YTT alignment based / Iyengar Style workshop requirement.
Looking forward

Meet our cool Yogis at Liberty Yoga!
Robert Davis:
Robert Davis - we call him "Davis" - comes to the 7:30 am morning classes at Liberty on his motorcycle.
"Breath is the heart of yoga.
Weather is the breath of the universe.
Climb out of your rolling boxes.
Stick your face in the wind.
Ride your motorcycle to yoga."
-Robert Davis

Mary Heinsohn and Carol Leach:
Mary painted this lovely plate that resembles the tree painted in our tree room. Carol is a friend and supporter of Mary's work.
Mary Heinsohn and Carol Leach
"The yoga practice of stilling the mind has been very helpful for me in finding ideas for decorating my pottery. With a still mind, it is easier for me to see what the finished piece might be. I got the idea to decorate the plate with a winter tree in a quiet moment. After I had painted it, I realized the similarity to the tree in the yoga room so I added the red bird to complete the idea. I have spent much contemplative time admiring the tree and I guess it imprinted itself on my subconscious."
"Another similarity between yoga and pottery is the idea of centering. It is essential when making a piece on the wheel to center the clay before forming the piece. If the clay is not centered before throwing, the piece will be all wonky. In yoga, we breathe to center ourselves in order to hold ourselves in a pose and not tumble. In life, we need to center ourselves to keep from flying off the handle. So yoga has helped my mind as well as my body. Thank you to Carol for introducing me to Liberty Yoga!"
~Mary Heinsohn
You can find Mary's work in Elkton, MD at Art Space 134 W. Main St. and on the web here.
"I have been practicing yoga for about 2 years. My initial goals were to improve strength, flexibility and balance. I have also found that I have had significant healing of my left shoulder and my left knee which were previously injured. Yoga breathing is a new skill that I have learned to aid in overall stamina and stress reduction. Yoga has contributed greatly to my general health."
