Susan Smith is an inspirational and loving teacher. Her greatest joy in yoga teacher training is seeing what you eventually make of the tools she offers you. She will be teaching YTT informational workshops and classes coming in August - dates to be announced soon - or you may contact her with questions.

New Classes

1) Therapeutic Yoga practice for Health and Healing
Tues, Thurs & Fri at 10am - 
90 minutes class!

2) New: Wed 7pm- Therapeutic Yoga with Erin (Starts Sept 2nd)

3) Susan Smith comes back!  Her weekly hot vinyasa class starts Sunday, August 23rd at 8:30 am.

4)Both Hot Vinyasa and Vinyasa will be running again Tuesdays and Thursdays at 5:30 pm starting September 1st.  (We combined these classes in July and August due to lower enrollment.  Thanks for your understanding!)

5) New Time for Sunday Donation Class  - Gentle Yoga and Meditation. Sundays 3:30 - 5 pm starting August 23rd.  This class is $5 and the money goes to charity.  Look for our article next month on our donation to Exceptional Care for Children which we will be making on August 12th. This class is taught by volunteers.

6) MELT Method(R) classes change to 8:45 - 9:45 am starting September 1st.  Don't forget these classes are an extra fee and are not yoga. They are not included in discount packages.

7) Black Light Yoga!  Erin is offering a special hot yoga class on Friday nights called - Friday Night Lights.  This class will be once a month. First class:  September 18th 7 pm - 8:30 pm.  Erin will heat the room, teach power flow yoga, use dance music and just rock it out! Consider coming with fluorescent body paint, white and florescent clothing, and paint your mat. This class is an additional fee but is discounted to $16 for non-members (autorenew members $8). 
New: Gentle Therapeutic Yoga is expanding.
It's Yoga practice for Health and Healing
Starting in August the Gentle Therapeutic Yoga class is expanding. We are renaming it "Yoga Practice for Health and Healing" (HH) This class will be Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 10am-11:30am

We will use props including a chair for some classes. The last 30 minutes will be restorative. Those students who cannot get up and down off of the floor will be given other options. One of the goals is to strengthen the legs of those who have difficulty with mobility. We feel confident that with time and commitment all students will be able to get up and  down from the floor at least once during class.

What to expect: Muscle strength, improved flexibility, twisting for organ health and deep core activation, balance improvement, complex movements, relaxation and healing. Also, expect to make friends, make silly noises, count in foreign languages, do breathing exercises, sing and more.
Both Erin and Shelley teach these classes and are committed to offering loving and healing yoga classes for students in special populations who need extra attention or help in certain areas. While students at all levels will enjoy the fun loving spirit of these classes and learn anatomy and alignment principles, they are specifically designed to help with health and healing

Yoga for Health & Healing

An 8 week program for:
Cancer survivors, care givers & patients | Managing chronic illness, heart disease & diabetes | Injury recovery & maintenance
 
Upon completion of this course, you will be able to: 1. Explain the holistic benefits of yoga as a health and wellness program. 2. Develop a personal self-care and wellness plan. 3. Use The Eight Limbed Path of Yoga & Meditation as guidelines for vibrant, healthy, empowered living. 4. Describe and apply specific breathing, relaxation and meditation techniques to improve health, calm the mind and restore balance. 5. Modify yoga poses safely and appropriately for individual practice. Tuition: $895 (Proceeds will support the Cancer Support Community of Delaware) This course qualifies for 40 hours of CEUs. An additional certification fee of $25 applies. 
 
MELT(R) & Yoga with MELT Method(R)
with Monique
MELT(R) promotes fluid flow, helps you heal, activates nerves you aren't using, and relieves pain.  It is an acupressure self massage techniques using balls and rollers.

MELT Method(R) Classes:
9 am on Tuesday & Thursday
(These classes change to 8:45 am starting September 1st

Marriage Announcement
 
 
Mrs. Detwiler is in the house!
 
Erin Sweeney married Michael Detwiler on June 12, 2015 in Tulum, Mexico.  It was a private Mayan ceremony performed by a group of priestesses. The ceremony involved flowers, a singing bowl and harp, thanking the 7 directions, incense purification, a kiss, vows, and a shot of a yummy liquor called xtabentun.  Erin also had a ceremony for family and friends in Bishopsville MD on July 19th at the Restaurant at Lighthouse Sound. While Erin has changed her name to Erin Sweeney Detwiler, she would like to continue to go by Erin Sweeney at work because Sweeney rhymes with Yogini.  
 
Erin wants to give a really big special thank you and acknowledge Leslie Easterby and Christine Shaw for their kindness and support during the wedding planning. Erin says, "Thank you to all who donated to my wedding gift.  I wear my diamond earrings all the time and ADORE them.  It was such a thoughtful gift. I was able to use the extra money on the card for my dress alterations and some other special wedding items. Thank you to all of you!  You are all so loving and so lovable!"

Victorious Breath
This month we'd like to focus on the Ujjayi Pranayama or Victorious Breath in all our classes. 
Think of your breath like the tide of your body. It helps your heart move the fluid around in your body and promotes good health. Practice this breath technique in yoga class and take it off the mat into life for a healthier you!
