December marks the beginning of the last month of the year and for me, the beginning of the last month of my term as President of the Greater Dallas AFP Chapter. It has been an honor to serve. It's also been a blast! I've worked with a fabulous board of directors. We've presented intelligent, educational programs throughout the year. Our membership has long surpassed 400 members. We have an established Mentoring Program, a Young Professionals recruitment effort, and a bigger presence on social media.
We cannot take for granted the
DFW Philanthropy Conference, the National Philanthropy Day Luncheon, the Fundamentals of Fundraising seminar and the
CFRE Review Course. All of these events take place year after year, yet remain relevant to the professional development of you, our members. And, we have scholarships!
Penelope Burk and Terry Axelrod, both giants in the fundraising world, were brought to Dallas this year by our Chapter.
The new kid on the block is our collaboration with the
North Texas Chapter of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning (PPP) and their volunteer-supported,
Planned Giving on the Run course. This is the perfect introduction to planned giving. Make your plans to sign up as soon as the next course opens up.
In keeping with our
December Holiday Luncheon tradition of inviting local philanthropists to share their story,
Susan and John Cuellar and their daughter,
Catherine Cuellar, will be our speakers this month. If you haven't signed up, now is the time.
Next month you will be hearing from Judy Wright, 2016 President of the Greater Dallas AFP Chapter. She has some new ideas and a great board of volunteers to help make things happen. I can't wait!
Sincerely,
Diana Marquis, CFRE
