Institutions of Higher Education and their Internationalization Strategies
(Frankfurt, Berlin, Dresden)
June 14 June 20, 2015

DAAD invites representatives from universities, research institutions, and funding agencies in the United States and Canada, as well as colleagues from the fields of education policy and politics to join us for our Germany Today Information Tour 2015.

DAADs information tour Germany Today 2015 is designed to give participants both a broader overview of Germanys higher education landscape and a more in-depth understanding of recent developments on the government level as well as within individual institutions. The group will discuss funding opportunities, internationalization strategies, and the potential for co-operation between German and North American institutions.

On this trip, participants will visit Frankfurt, Berlin and Dresden. Frankfurt University and Freie Universitt Berlin will share their experience with one of DAADs newest and largest funding programs, Strategic Partnerships and Thematic Networks with the group. At Technical University Dresden participants will learn about the role of strategic partnerships for the development of the high level research projects the university is pushing forward. While in Dresden, the group will also visit the Hochschule fr Technik und Wirtschaft which belongs to the Universities of Applied Sciences Fachhochschulen. Their emphasis on practical orientation makes them very attractive for employers. Besides strategic partnerships other topics currently of relevance for German institutions of higher education and research will also be covered, including training of doctoral candidates in structured PhD programs, the increasing importance of third party funding in research, student and researcher mobility.

At various times during this week, the group will meet additional guests, from the political sphere, from independent research institutes, and from industry, and with ample time for discussion.

Alumna Dr. Grace Ng-Krlle, MBA 1999, now a Research Fellow at Solution Forest in Australia wrote:

"The Esslingen MBA is a melting pot of culture, a platform for brainstorming ideas and for building relationships that cut across conventional borders."

Esslingen: one of the first MBA programs in Germany providing top-notch business education.

The Esslingen MBA allows students to study in one of the most industrial regions in Europe. All master's classes are taught in English by highly qualified professors or professionally qualified instructors with rich business experience. Our MBA is well connected to, and well supported by, corporations such as Bosch, Daimler and Festo. Small class sizes of 25 provide students with an optimal learning environment. An internationally diverse MBA class is one of our strongest assets.

It is also one of our greatest teaching tools that we integrate the varied individual perspectives of participants, the educational approach and curriculum. A close relationship to the industry enables students to learn theory and gain state-of-the-art knowledge, both inside and out of the classroom.

Hands-on learning activities, such as company visits and real examples are carried out under close guidance; students have the opportunity to study German and to explore the German mentality and culture by participating in excursions, cultural lectures and social events. Our programs are strongly sponsored by the German government.

Students receive an MBA valued at over 30,000 for less than 5,000!
