5th Annual Beer & Wine Tasting
sets fundraising record!

On Friday, October 3, 2014, 300 Rebuilding Together Seattle (RTS) supporters gathered at the Museum of History & Industry (MOHAI) for the
5th Annual Beer and Wine Tasting Fundraiser. Together, event sponsors, donors, and attendees raised $160,000 for low income homeowners in need of critical home repairs, exceeding last year's total by $30,000!

Rebuilding Together Seattle thanks everyone who helped make our 5th annual event a resounding success, including our Presenting Sponsor, Infiniti of Kirkland, Gold Sponsor, the Master Builders Association (MBA) of King and Snohomish Counties, and our matching donors, Jim and Debbie Bevier.   RTS also sends a special thanks to homeowners, Jack and Jennifer Slack, who shared about the impact that volunteers made on their lives: "The day that walkway was completed, I was able to walk myself down to the shop and work for the first time in four years.  Rebuilding Together Seattle gave us freedom, independence and a reason to get out of  bed again.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts."

RTS launches new partnership with the Master Builders Association of

King and Snohomish Counties!

Rebuilding Together Seattle is pleased to announce a brand new partnership with the Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties (MBA). In October at the 5th Annual Beer & Wine Tasting Fundraiser, Rebuilding Together Seattle formally kicked off a two-year strategic partnership with MBA.  Along with serving as a Gold Sponsor at the annual event, the MBA is providing generous funding support toward Rebuilding Together Seattle's programs, and lending volunteer support from their membership and network.

"The Master Builders Association of King and Snohomish Counties is excited to partner with Rebuilding Together Seattle," said Aaron Adelstein, Director of Community Stewardship, Master Builders Association.  "RTS provides such an important service in our community and is a great fit with our association's values and resources. Through this partnership we'll be able to address critical housing needs, increase safety and improve quality of life for dozens of families."

Rebuilding Together Seattle is truly grateful for this new partnership during our 25th Anniversary year.  "We can't be more excited about this opportunity and feel so honored to be selected by such a noteworthy organization as their new community partner," said RTS Executive Director, Margie Thirlby.

Homeowner Spotlight

In March of 2014, Olu applied to Rebuilding Together Seattle, seeking help with plumbing and electrical issues in the home she shares with her two teenage daughters in Beacon Hill. Olu purchased the home for her family in 1997 but due to poor construction, the house was falling apart. Due to challenges with Diabetes and Arthritis, Olu was unable to keep up with repairs her aging home needed.

On September 27, 2014, the Rebuilding Together Seattle Board and Staff held their annual rebuilding day project, assisting Olu and her family with the repairs they needed leading into the cold and wet winter.  Volunteers repaired her front steps and added handrails, fixed a leaking toilet and installed new bathroom flooring, put in new light fixtures throughout the home, cleaned her dryer vent to get it working properly again, installed new smoke detectors, removed clutter and completed yard work and trimming.

Olu shared: "You all have contributed to making life worth living again. It is very easy to overlook simple things in life which can be a huge burden for some people but you have literally worked a miracle. Thank you for a new lease on life!"
