October 2015                                                                                                                                         Issue #110
Hello Neighbor,

THANK YOU SOUTH FLORIDA!!!!  You put smiles on the faces of 2,240 kids this Halloween.  Thanks to our generous neighbors who donated gently worn and new costumes for kids in need.  See photos and details on Operation Candy Corn below.

Now, it is on to Adopt a Family 4 the Holidays.  It's our pride and joy each year as we connect hundreds of families in need with caring people, companies and groups who are willing to share their blessings with others.  I hope you will participate, and learn why previous "adopters" say it is the best holiday experience ever!

Have a beautiful Thanksgiving holiday.

Sincerely,

Lynne Cameron
Executive Director

A EVENING WITH DREAM GIRLS WAS A DREAM COME TRUE!

We are truly blessed.  Our annual fundraiser at Lips in Ft. Lauderdale was just electric.  With our  Dream team of Dream Girls, Alyssa Lovitt,
Alonzo Reed, Max Tucci and Susan Renneisen, we raised over $11,000!!

We could not have done it without their dedication and the support of all of you who attended to cheer them on!  We walked away with boxes of money, all to support our Adopt A Family 4 the Holidays Program

What makes us happiest is knowing that all that money came from the deepest parts of your hearts and from the bottom of ours we can't thank you enough.

Special thanks to Keith Backer and his Team at Backer Aboud Poliakoff & Foelster for their support again this year. It's community partners like your team that keep our team going all year long.

A sparkling thank you to Whittal & Shon for the exquisite facinators they donated for our Dream Girls to don the night of the event.  They will wear them for years to come and made their costumes complete!

We also cannot thank our Board Member and Dream Girls Chair, Michael Goodman, enough.  His leadership for this annual event is inspiring.  It takes a lot to put an event like this together and he does it with grace and style.  Thank you Micheal!

What a treat this Halloween was!  Our third annual Operation Candy Corn Costume Drive grew even bigger than we could have imagined. With so many people and organizations collecting, it took us a week to count it all!  The treats didn't stop there, many held parties for the amazing kids of our area in addition to collecting amazing costumes. Making this Halloween even more special.

This Halloween you helped us collect and distribute 2,240 new and gently worn costumes to Kids in need.
Thank you South Florida. We have the greatest community!!!

In November we celebrate Homeless Awareness Day in
Miami-Dade County.

At the Port of Miami, on November 5th, those working closest with the goal of eradicating homelessness gathered to celebrate the achievements reached thus far.  This day serves to invigorate the community to help reach the goal of ending homelessness in Miami-Dade by Dec. 31st 2017!

This goal might seem impossible, but in Miami-Dade alone this year, over 400 veterans have been placed in housing, wrapped in services leaving only 23 homeless vets in our community.  Only 23! The goal of ending Veteran homelessness in Miami-Dade, by Dec. 31st, 2015 is so close to being reached and is supported by you and this amazing community.

This gives hope to all of us working to help those who need us the most!

Neighbors 4 Neighbors is a non-profit organization 501 (c) 3 originally created by CBS4 in 1992 in the aftermath of Hurricane Andrew. As South Florida recovered, CBS4 made a commitment to make Neighbors an integral part of its community service program.  Using the power of television to reach people who want to help and by forging relationships with important community and business leaders, Neighbors has evolved into a valuable resource for individuals and families in our community facing critical needs.
