Doug Crandell is a subject matter expert in Customized Employment with the Employment First State Leadership Mentoring Program at the US DOL, Office of Disability Employment Policy. His area of expertise is using evidence-based supported employment practices to help support people with complex barriers to work.Visual Resumes
Join Doug Crandell in a hands on workshop to learn how to create a visual resume for your job seeker. In this training you will learn how to:
- Capture job seeker strengths with photos/videos
- Create visual documents that are person-centered
- Utilize a Customized Employment Team
- Perform job development using the visual resume
Note: The Visual Resume Workshop requires attendees to prepare in advance. A specific job seeker should be chosen, some work-related photos or video taken, and an idea of the person’s vocational themes should be understood. We will create the visual resume in the training. Bring your laptop so you can get hands on help during this workshop!

Photo/Video Tips!
Make sure the photos capture action and work. Think of chores, hobbies, volunteer activities, etc. For instance, if a person really likes a specific chore or task around the home, have that person engage in that chore or task and take photos/video. If they enjoy a particular hobby, get pictures of the person performing the hobby. We want these visual moments to highlight strengths, action, competency, and interests.
