Dear Dragons,

Another week and a pair of District Championships belong to the SLC. The fall sport season is really ramping up now. Four of the six sports currently being played are either deep into the regular season or beginning their post-season  journey. It is such a hectic time of year that you need your handy CABC Enewsletter to keep you up on all the goings on.

FOOTBALL:

Football went to the road warrior well one more time this week with a gigantic road match up vs. Euless Trinity in 7-6A play. So many times this year this team has travelled together and come up with big victories. This time, however, in an agonizingly close game the Dragons would come up perhaps one play short of adding to their collection of road victories in a 37-35 loss to the Trojans at Pennington Field. But October regular season games only set the stage for what is to come and with a victory at home on Pink Out night vs. Colleyville Heritage the team can clinch a playoff berth with 3 games remaining. Game time as always is 7:30pm at Dragon Stadium.

Tickets are on sale at Dragon Stadium 8am-4pm Thursday and 8-noon on Friday. CSHS & CHS has them for sale at lunch on Thursday. Adults $6, Students $4 and all tickets at game $8. Parking $3.

Metro Sports is back for their 13th season as the official broadcast home of your Southlake Carroll Dragons. As always Chuck Kelly will provide the play by play with Kelly Milligan providing color commentary. Travis Smith is Mr. Sidelines. The pre game one hour countdown to kickoff will begin at 6:30pm.

VOLLEYBALL:

Lady Dragon Volleyball continues the victory parade that has been their march through 7-6A, defeating Trinity 3-0, before having their final bye of the regular season. They are now 38-3 overall and a perfect undefeated record of 10-0 in district 7-6A.

Their final two matches of the regular season will be their toughest road blocks to the 7-6A title. They will face Colleyville Heritage at home on Friday, Oct. 23rd at 6:30pm before concluding the regular season also at home vs. Coppell on Tuesday, Oct. 27th at 6:30pm. Senior night will be held next Tuesday before the Coppell match. And since these are the last two matches of the regular season and at home - it would be a great time to see them in action.

They remain #1 in the state this week for a 8th consecutive week in the TGCA poll. They are #2 in the TexasTop20 according to Lonestarvolleyball.com

CROSS COUNTRY:

From the start of the season to the district meet...

The Lady Dragons simply owned the 7-6A district meet, perfect scoring it and sweeping the top 7 spots. Atigone Archer was first to break the tape with a time of 18:43.5 but only a split second behind her were 2 teammates, Gillian Mortimer and Alison Esparza who simultaneously came in at 18:43.6. Top 3 spots claimed - but 4 more top performances to go. Sarah Odneal took 4th with 18:55 and soph. Cate Tracht was close on her heels at 18:59. Kayli Jones & Ari Lopez came in 6th & 7th respectively. What a great day for our Lady Dragons!!!

The Dragons didn't have a bad day at the office themselves, also claiming the 7-6A title as team leader Reed Brown was the top Dragon finisher with a 2nd place overall finish with a time of 15:31. He was followed by Michael Waugh who took 3rd at 16:03, Shea Whatley 4th at 16:07. Timou Toure in 7th at 16:11 and Charlie Gardner 8th at 16:12. Michael Simcho & Nic Fernandes took 10th & 12th respectively.

Up next both teams via virtue of their 1st place finish qualify for the Region 1 meet in Lubbock on Oct. 26th at Mae Simmons Park.

TENNIS:

Tennis took the first step on their post season march by defeating Cedar Hill 18-1 in the Area Quarterfinals to run their record to 15-4 on the year. Up next they will continue the Area tournament facing Mansfield on Thursday, Oct. 22nd at 9am at CSHS.

GOLF:

The Lady Dragon green team travelled to Mansfield for  the Fall Fling Tournament and captured 1st place.

Congratulations to all our champions this week.

Golf is off this weekend before returning to the links on Oct. 30-31.

SWIMMING:

The Dragon Swim/Dive teams were hunting' chickins this week at the meet that is formally known as the Dragon Hunt. But anyone that is familiar with Dragon Swimming knows this meet is famous for its yellow rubber chickins. There are 100+ rubber chickins given out on this day and the Dragon swimmers took home 30 of them. There were special guests, albeit dressed in chicken costumes, and all were very busy hosts. Thanks to all who volunteered. When the day was over it was a resounding victory for SLC's swim team as the Dragon men emerged with an almost 600 point victory over Frisco Liberty with Southlake Carroll earning 909 points and Liberty 379. The Lady Dragons had a nice day at the pool as well earning the meet victory over Frisco with a point total of 821 to Frisco's 462.

Up next the teams travel to Allen on Thursday for a tri-meet vs. Allen, Jesuit Boys and Ursuline Girls.
