Connections  |  August 2015
Every Woman's Place for Support, Connections and Community.
Women Should Know Each Other!

The Women's Centre is teaming up with We Should Know Each Other (WSKEO) for an evening of shared stories, new connections and laughter.
Together, we welcome all women to connect with each other, build community and meet new people. This event is open to anyone who identifies as a woman.
WSKEO is a grassroots community-building movement that Mark Hopkins started out of his living room in Calgary in 2008. WSKEO and the Women's Centre share common goals of creating connections and building community, and we're so thrilled to be able to feature this event! Bring a friend or come alone and make some new ones here!

When: Thursday, August 20, 5-8pm
Where: The Women's Centre, 39 - 4th Street NE
RSVP: (403) 264-1155 or

A Dozen Hampers a Day

After her first month at the Women's Centre, Thunder wrote a blog about the growth we're seeing, the programs we host, and the trials of trying to learn a hundred new names in just a few weeks.
1314 personal care items and 724 emergency food hampers were distributed from April to June this year. That works out to about a dozen food hampers every day we were open.
Stampede Success

Last week's Stampede Lunch was so much fun! Thank you to everyone who attended, and to Encana for sponsoring the event yet again!
We'd also like to thank Rocky's Sausage Haus, Canyon Plumbing & Heating Ltd., COBS Bread Country Hills and North Hill Co-Op for donating supplies and food items. Over 430 visitors ate nearly 600 sausages and countless cans of beans. Another big thanks to everyone who brought in a personal care item - our shampoo bin looked pretty full! Check out the photo album here.
