Volunteer Star
Congratulations to our Jersey Cares Volunteer Star of the month for October, Kristina Bischof! When this busy twentysomething isn't working multiple jobs at once, she somehow finds time to make other people her top priority. She's been with us since 2012, and quickly became one of our stars in the making! Last fall, she joined our Season of Service, and the rest was history. Kristina exuded a natural and exemplary knack for leadership even in this highly selective group, and we're thrilled to see her grow even more as a Project Coordinator in the past year. She sincerely enjoys helping people, even if it just means making them smile. Her favorite volunteer organization? Care One at Madison--where she's been able to spread smiles and make friends across the generations, some even in their hundreds. We can only imagine what a powerhouse star she'll be when she gets to be that age!
Thanks to some of our top supporters!
We appreciate Jersey Cares' donors who help make all of this work possible.

365 Days of Volunteering
Every day, volunteers like you are critical to making a change in our communities. Check out some of our favorite projects this month:
  • Chess for Success -
Studies show that chess improves aptitude, cognition, decision-making, strategy, planning, and focus. Mentor a child through games!
  • Tutor and Mentor in Newark -  Whatever your strengths, you are needed and will contribute to making a profound difference in the students' lives by giving them the courage and confidence to succeed and become future leaders.
  • ServiceWorks: Success Coach Training - In this groundbreaking national program, experienced professionals and community members like you are trained and deployed in Newark to provide mentorship to under-served youth. If you can commit to 8-12 weeks, you will be making a huge difference to a young person's life!

Corporate Corner

Early on a sunny Saturday morning, members of The Allstate Foundation and Jersey Cares erected a unified tent with one purpose: bringing disaster preparedness to the folks at the Fall Harvest Festival and Craft Fair. Assembling kits with all sorts of goodies, from mini first aid kits to flashlights, and whistles to collapsible water bottles, The Allstate Foundation put some "pep" into preparation. Surrounded by iced tea stands and country music, they fit right in with their natural smiles and helpful, neighborly advice on the best uses for something as innocuous as trash bags.

Surprise, then gratefulness registered on the families' faces as they received their free swag bags and life-saving tips. This year marks the AllState Foundation's 20th year of service, and they show no signs of slowing down in their second decade of civil servitude and social improvement. Thank you, AllState Foundation, for not just saving lives, but supporting them too!
