Corporate Corner

Over 100 Verizon volunteers walked into a Newark elementary school in March for a spectacular day of service. The brisk weather did not stop the group from transforming the outdoor courtyards with newly built stained benches, picnic tables, raised beds and new line games on the blacktop. Indoors, the library was brightened with a fresh coat of paint and the science room received a fun and educational mural along with new shelving units. The school also received healthy living canvas murals, colorful fleece blankets, and unique indoor hopscotch boards created by volunteers. The best part of the day for many was being able to make a special connection with students through interactive STEM-based workshops. These Fantastic Fraction, Chocolate Bridge Building, Doodling Robots, Solar Car, and Solar Oven workshops proved to be an exciting way to introduce science and technology into the school's curriculum. Thank you, Verizon, for devoting your time to make an impact on this Newark school!
