This year, beat the heat and holiday crowds on the 4th of July by playing games and socializing with seniors and veterans. Volunteer with family and friends to celebrate service and still have time to see the fireworks!
July is National Anti-Boredom Month - so get out this summer and beat boredom by volunteering! Jersey Cares would like to celebrate this momentous month by providing you with exciting ways to make a difference. This summer, be the change and find a project in your neighborhood on our Volunteer Opportunity Calendar!
365 Days of Volunteering
Share the abundance of local, seasonal produce and fruit available during the summer with people in need. Volunteer to help organize and distribute much needed help and nutrition at:
Farmers Market in Newark - Assist a farmers market in providing free locally grown produce to the elderly. This is a great opportunity for volunteers to learn more about farmers markets and directly connect with Newark residents.
Marketplace in Monmouth and Ocean Counties - Volunteer at one of the most successful food pantries in New Jersey! Volunteers are needed to organize and distribute perishable and non-perishable items to dozens of needy families.
Annual Events
Just this past month, over 20 agencies have requested school kits for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year through the Annual Jersey Cares School Supply Drive.
From July 20th until August 21st, we need your help to collect these new, unopened items to be dropped off at our office:
Sign up to host a School Supply Collection Site for your office, club, scout troop, or day camp by completing our registration form.
Nonprofits and schools that would like to receive the completed School Kits can register through our online recipient form.
Corporate Corner
This past month, 43 volunteers from Novo Nordisk warmed hearts while visiting a senior center in
Mercer County. They spent quality time with residents by setting up a photo booth complete with fun and goofy props and printing the pictures to preserve the memories. The Novo Nordisk volunteers also revitalized the center by building four benches outside and painting inspirational canvas murals to brighten the hallways. Seniors also received cozy no-sew fleece blankets and pillows made by the volunteers. Thank you, Novo Nordisk, for your continued commitment to service - we cannot wait to see what you will do next!
