SPI Takes Part in Statewide Warrant Round-Up

The City of South Padre Island is joining more than 300 law enforcement agencies across Texas in the Statewide Warrant Round-Up beginning Saturday, March 7. The roundup is designed to target thousands of defendants with traffic, parking, city ordinance, penal code and higher charge warrants from participating jurisdictions. Cities will work together to enforce outstanding warrants from their own and other cities for individuals living within their jurisdiction. Affected persons are urged to contact the appropriate jurisdictions during the next two weeks to dispose of their cases voluntarily to avoid the inconvenience and embarrassment of arrest at home or work in front of family, friends, or co-workers. Those with outstanding warrants are urged to contact the South Padre Island Municipal Court for information on how to pay all outstanding fines. For more information, call (956) 761-3225 during regular business hours, or visit www.myspi.org and select Municipal Court Department.

South Texas School Food Show

AP Foods brought their first South Texas School Food Show to the Convention Centre on Wednesday. Vendors provided a tasting for cafeteria managers featuring a variety of lunch menu options. Pizza, burritos, chicken strips, and spicy chicken were some of the featured items prepared with a better eye on nutrition by baking versus frying and using low-fat ingredients.

On Saturday February 28th we hosted our first dog show in the Convention Centre. Four Leaf Kennels presented "Bully Beach Expo" highlighting only Bulldogs. We would like to thank Victor Baldovinos and his staff for helping us and the clients with all our questions and concerns we had while preparing for this exciting event.

The shelter is located at 4908 Padre Blvd and open to the public Tuesday-Sunday from 10 AM to 4:30 PM.  We do make arrangements to meet owners after hours if necessary in order to reunite pets with their families. Friends of Animal Rescue can be reached on their 24 hour hotline at 956-772-1171. Animals that are not claimed within 7-10 days are vetted (including Spay/Neuter) and adopted out to loving homes.
