There's progress at the shipyard and events are planned for New Bedford and Gloucester as you can see in the articles below.  SEMA has a Memorandum of Agreement with the Schooner Ernestina Comission and DCR to raise one million dollars for the reconstruction project.  We are excited that Matthew Stackpole, most recently a Major gifts Officer and Ship's Historian for the Charles W. Morgan Restoration Project, has joined the SEMA team to help us reach our fund raising goal.  A sailing Ernestina-Morrissey  will return to Massachusetts' waters to serve the Commonwealth again.

Progress in Boothbay

Matthew Stackpole and Capt Harold Burnham last week

The ship has been in the yard for 7 weeks and much planning work is being done but there has been some visible progress as well.   As you can see the masts are down and other equipment has been removed and safely stored.  Harold is at the ship weekly working with shipyard staff in his position as DCR Owner's Representative and Matthew visited while Harold was there last week collecting information for SEMA.
