Core Issue Addiction Recovery  3 Q  2014

Last week I had the privilege of speaking to multiple groups in Collegedale, Tennessee and as I opened each session with this proclamation, "God wastes nothing", and then relayed how my worst mistakes are now means to witness to the goodness of God, I am convinced that we, His Church, the "called out" ones may not be walking in freedom because we are unable to share our struggles in safety and without judgment. Daily I may have struggles, I may have a SLIP (short lapse in progress), yet what I need most is a fellowship where I am safe to admit my failures and learn from them without fear of rejection.  What I need is someone to walk with me showing me love and truth.  And as God's character is cleared in my own mind, I share what I've learned declaring regularly (as Rev. 12:11 says) how I overcame because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of my testimony.  Our stories show that we have made mistakes and learned from them. This gives hope to Christians who think they're alone, not perfect, and lost in despair.  There is so much hope needed and so much hope is given in sharing our story.  The confession of our mouth.  What is the confession of your mouth?  Are you free to share?  There is healing in relaying our common ground, both struggles and victories. Christ's Church is to be a safe place with safe people so we can become known and whole. There by the grace of God... He wastes nothing, ever.

Once again, I stand in awe.  Grateful.  Thanks for trekking with me.  Check out what's happening.
These front row seats are STILL amazing, buckle up!

The Next Generation -
Game Changers
SDA Community - Strategies for a Pure Life
On Southern Adventist University's campus, the end of September not only brought in autumn but a full week of speakers for Strategies for a Pure Life.  Kudos go to the pastors and leaders who prepared for this community wide event. Times are changing. Unlike their predecessors, this generation doesn't have to be convinced of the appetite or consequences of s*xual addiction. They are hungry for practical tools to help them overcome,  The young men and women of this next generation could very well be the "Game Changers" for s*xual addiction recovery in the Christian community. Glory to God, please pray thru!
Tampa's STAND Conference
Sept. 12/13,  STAND Together and Negate Demand
Did you know the Salvation Army has been involved in human trafficking (HT) since its inception in 1865 when its founders sought to help trafficked women and children in London? Last month, Tampa's audience, like others, understood the Supply & Demand Equation of s*x trafficking and many participants are looking for next steps to reduce the demand in their community, and that's where our work begins to train up and plant groups.
GOHTTF - Demand Reduction (DR)
Greater Orlando Human Trafficking Task Force Collaboration
September's travels to Florida permitted personal attendance at GOHTTF's Stakeholder and DR meetings plus involvement in the Legislative meeting outlining work ahead. During the Stakeholder meeting I presented DR's progress and current tasks of 1) carving out legislation for central Florida johns schools that wouldn't limit or hinder the implementation of faith based programs, 2) collaboration with the oversight agency in the development of said vendor criteria and 3) constructing the program curriculum to include Laaser's 3 Levels of SA Behaviors and exercises that interface the left and right brain, among other evidence based best practices. Collaboration with Miami/Dade State Attorney and Seminole County Probation Dept. is expected to enhance progress.  Please pray for follow thru.

Speaking or Listening - Doors are opening
For a couple of years now we've mentioned how the human trafficking (HT) movement has embraced FMM's Demand Reduction work and is opening many new doors for our message to train and plant support groups for s*xual addiction recovery.  We are so grateful for this collaboration and are working to connect with HT movements everywhere to stir up interest, reduce the demand, educate on Core Issue Addiction Recovery with a s*xual addiction specialty and plant support groups for men, women, spouses and young people too.

FMM Training
Mid July offered an opportunity to train seven participants on the L.I.F.E. Recovery Model in Orlando and has already brought forth fruit. One participant helped coordinate December's training Viera, FL, another gave FMM the privilege of speaking in Tampa, two will use the training in their work with survivors and another looks to organize a ministry within his church.  Please pray for follow through.
FMM's - Continuing Education
Bowen Family System Theory
Earlier this year I was graciously awarded a scholarship to Bowen Theory Education Center. September's symposium launched the eight month training program in Bowen Theory, patterned after The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family, Georgetown, Washington, DC. This postgraduate and professional training program will provide a basic introduction and training in Bowen Theory, the study of natural systems, and the family and will enhance FMM's Core Issue Addiction Recovery Training.
