We'd like to thank you for supporting our vision of sufficient sustainable livelihood for all, a vision that begins with food security for all. We prayed, pondered, pushed, pulled and stretched our thinking around our mission to achieve this big audacious vision, and now we are asking you to do the same -- What is your call to action?

We  believe that a sustainable local economy driven by community-based
agri-businesses will provide food security for all. Take a look at our strategic directions. You'll see that our urban agri-business programs, services and products are designed to create a culture of health, wellness and economic empowerment. Together, with a multitude of community partners, leaders and YOU, we can end hunger --
Thank YOU for heeding to the call!!

Enlightened eating is a growing movement on Detroit's lower eastside; literally. And, staying true to our roots, youth development is the central focus that guides all of Genesis HOPE's work. The Young Sprouts Food Entrepreneur Internship Program addresses the social determinants of how youth view food and nutrition, land and energy, and exposes youth to hands-on practical application of food production, food processing and retail food operations. The program is shaping future leaders in the food industry. The interns operate the SeedsGROW Farm, Young Sprouts Farm Stand and the Islandview Farmers Market.

YOUTH GROWING THE FUTURE

Program Coordinator, Deanna Lyons, feels it is important for the community to learn about gardening and the work being done by the young people operating the market because, "It teaches younger kids to do better in life, where they can live a long, healthy life."

A HEALTHY HARVEST
The "Harvest Celebration" showcased the work of the Young Sprouts, GREENCorp, local vendors and live entertainment by Motown Review. The festive occasion also included a cook-off.  While the "Harvest Celebration" marked the end of the 2015 summer selling season for Islandview Farmers Market and the Young Sprouts, it marked the beginning of an annual tradition celebrating the growth of health, wellness and sustainability for the community.
